INTRODUCTION
Facilitating changes is known as the process of transitioning from the current use of practices to
the improved one. In health and social care sector, change is must needed to ascertained because
of rendering qualitative services to all individuals of society. The development of organisations
within this sector is totally depends over the capability of accepting changes. This will further
provide an opportunity in providence of advanced care services that effectively able to meet
government standards. Beacon Edge Care Home was inspected in past and found that able to
comply with regulations that were in force (Francis, 2019). At that time, some recommendations
are provided to BECH for further improvement. In current inspection, identified that BECH is
not adhering the recommended directions and also possessed with many operational issues. The
main aim of this report is to identify the issues and adopt the measures to improve current
positon.
The aspects cover in report includes factors that drive change in health and social care,
challenges bring by key factors of change, strategies for measuring recent changes, measuring
the impact of recent changes, evaluation of the overall impact of recent changes, service
responses to recent changes, key principles of change management, planning of changes in
health and social care and monitoring of recent changes in health and social care services.

1.1 Key factors that drive change
There are two type of drivers that have impact over the functioning of an organisation.
These are known as external and internal. The factors under these are the main cause for
changes. It is the duty over management to carry continuous analysis of these two drives and
ascertain information about conditions that bring changes within an organisation. The same is
needed to adopt by BTEC for gaining information about factors and changing situations. The
detailed application of both in relation to BTEC is provided below:
PESTLE: This model helps in ascertaining information about the external conditions exist
in nation and have impact over business activities.
Political factors: The political situation is quite significant in UK. This would be the
reason that government is strict towards the framing of employment laws and their application.

The failure of BECH in meeting Health and Safety Act requirements has negative impact over
business functions. Here, organisation failed to update care plan. So, important for an
organisation to adhere all employment laws.
Economic Factors: It is visible that due to the impact Brexit, economic condition of UK is not
good. This situation has significant impact over flow of cash and per capita income of
individuals. It has negative impact over BECH in respect of adopting changes due to
unavailability of sufficient amount of funds (Furqan and Zakaria, 2017).
Social factor: The individuals of society have the opinion regarding attainment of quality
health services because it is directly associated with their value of life. The non-fulfilment of
same by BECH has negative impact over the image within industry. Here, they not even able to
satisfy their cultural and social needs. So, they need to focus over adopting appropriate quality
measures.
Technological factors: The level of technology presence is high within the UK. This
creates the opportunity for BECH regarding implementation of advance of equipment’s so they
can improve current level of services. This will further aid in meeting CQC recommendations.
SWOT: This model helps in determination of internal environment exist within an organisation
along with external opportunities and threats (Sen, Sahoo and Kothari, 2018).
Strengths: The strength of BECH is their employees as CQC identified that most of the
patients have the patients have the opinion that their staff members are caring, amiable and
helpful. This aspect as positive contribution towards building good reputation and attracting
more stakeholders. This will also help to keep residents, relatives and visitors very happy.
Weaknesses: There are various number of weaknesses exist in BECH includes inability to
meet health and social care act 2008 and CQC standards due to the lack of permanent manager,
rating of care home as inadequate by CQC along with charging of fine under the law, breach of
various legislations, lack of leadership, lack of skilled and experienced staff and lack of training.
Opportunities: There are various opportunities present in front of BECH includes
recruitment of new staff, providence of chance to show their ability and improve quality of
service, providence of higher to their residents and relatives.
Threat: The main threat exist in BECH is related to inappropriate management and need of high
level of development activities to meet standards (Hansson, Höög and Nyström, 2017).

1.2 Challenges that key factors of change bring to health and social care services
A challenge is something new as well as difficult which needs higher effort and determination.
According to the case study of BECH, there are number of challenges such as lack of availability
of resources, lack of leadership etc. These are main challenges that have impact on BECH and its
overall reputation. There are different resources such as financial, human. Material etc. all these
are important for BECH. It can be challenging for business to acquire the useful resources within
set time duration. Lack of leadership another challenge that has negative effect on business
performance and productivity. It is determined as BECH was not followed legal duties and
responsibilities effectively that will have impact on them. One of the main roles of leader is to
provide proper guidance to the staff member to work for well-being of society. Along with this,
staff resistance to change is main barrier to change (Jönsson and Martín, 2016). For example:
business habits whereby the team members are mainly doing their job role based on these types
of habits. In this, management change asks for to alter such habit effectively. Under this,
mangers and staff members of BECH were not followed rules and regulations properly. Under
health and social care 2008, employees have right to use effective approach for providing better
service to the patients. But in this BECH is lack and have poor performance.

3.1 Key principles of change management
Change management introduces to the systematic approach or method of dealing with the
transformation or transition of an enterprise’s procedures, technologies and goals. Main purpose
of change management is to develop an effective strategy for impacting change, monitoring
change and supporting an individual to adopt the change. According to the case study of BECH,
there is need for planning the change. For this, there are some components that will be needed

including availability of resources, local authority etc. Along with this, there are various issues
such as lack of leadership, lack of communication etc. will be require to plan for change.
The plan: In order to overcome impact of lack of leadership, there is need for planning to adopt
paternalistic skills. With the help of this skill, Mangers of BECH can easily analysis best strategy
for the home and the staff members (Kneale and Demiris, 2017).
Proposal: At this stage, BECH manger determines the factors that stimulate change. For
this, they can use certain models such as risk analysis, Swot analysis and many others.
Engagement: In this stage, BECH manger must engage their all employees and provide
information about the rules and regulations. They also provide, training to their employees who
have lack of communication skills.
Evidence: BECH have breached the code of conduct and principles of health and social
care. For this, manger must recognise their goals and provide information to the employees.
Discussion: This is important part of change model because it supports an organisation to
communicate each and every information to their employees in effective manner. For this, there
is requirement for BECH to provide information about the rules and regulations about the health
and social care to their staff members (Kuncoro and Sutomo, 2018).
Implementation: It is a last stage and in this, BECH manger must implement plan and
provide better services to the service user.
3.2 Planning of changes in health and social care
There is huge importance of planning for change. This will provide the opportunity to get
information about different alternatives so the end services will be improved. The stages of
planning are defined below:
Identification of issue: The main issue in BECH is related to lack of management, staff
and effective communication
Selection of different alternatives: BECH is needed to take the support of external
agency, follow the guideline of CQC and self-approach to hire registered manager.
Selection of best measure: From the permission of all stakeholders best alternative is selected.
Taking the support of external agency is best from current point of time (Maestre and Thorpe,
2016).

3.3 Monitoring of recent changes in health and social care services
Monitoring is important as help to know about the viability of improvements along with
information upon deviations. This can be used further for removal of same and bringing better
improvements. The method is provided below:
Audit: This is about quarterly audit of BECH operations. So, the deviations can be traced and
measures will be recommended on time (Markham, Proctor and Pineda, 2017).
Feedback: The ground level feedback helps to know about existing situations. This help to
remove the ground level issues along with building core strength structure.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded from the above report that change is must to adopt as this will help to
bring improvement in current services. The role of change is huge towards the evolvement of
working nature of an organisation. PESTLE and SWOT are effective drivers for identification of
conditions that demands change. Measuring of the recent changes is also important to ascertain
the level of improvements. In last, monitoring is the activity that help to maintain culture of
continuous change within an organisation.
