INTRODUCTION
In order to define facilities operations and management, primarily it is necessary to define
what is facilities management ? There are various roles and responsibilities of facilities manger
in Travelodge hospitality industry like towards staff, customers and operational activities.
Furthermore, this report includes assessment of the statutory regulations of UK that will affect
facilities operations. In addition to this report also explained the health, safety and environmental
measures for smooth running of their industry. In addition to this, facilities management has
wide and broad area in which it includes different factors of scope such as cleaning, construction,
human resource, interior design, contract management, mechanical engineering, organizational
behavior, travel management and acoustics(Piper, 2016). Responsibility toward operational
activity of facility manager is mainly connected to accessibility, maintenance and repair,
mechanical and electrical systems or refurbishment and security. Facility manager has to deal
with internal and external factors. There are various issues occurs in an operation of activity
which has to be resolved by facility manager.

Facilities management is essential both for public and organization. There are different

perform their tasks. These responsibilities are as follows:
Inspection: According to this responsibility, facility manager needs to review all the

A facility manager communicate with many factors as manager of the company,
customers and internal departments of the industry. Communication is the main process in
hospitality industry. It is necessary to have communication skills to communicate with all the
factors in effective and efficient manner. There are various sources to communicate but mostly it
is classified into two factors such as primary and secondary resources. Company can use
walkies-talkie and other technical devices to communicate with others. There are several factors
essential for being effective communication such as goo listener, having knowledge about the
topic which is communicated and so on(Hoyos, Morales and Akhavan-Tabatabaei, 2015). Apart
from this, there are other several aspects like verbal and non verbal which can be used by
company to communicate. Furthermore, company can use E-mails, text chats, telephones and

is necessary to give the budget line to all the departments in an organization. By the budgeting,
employees have the knowledge about the financial aspect and can control on the expenses and
financial prospects.
Auditing : This is the next an important area in which budgeting and financial aspects are
checked and audited. After auditing, facility manager develop the strategies to overcome the
indirect expenses or irrelevant expenditures(Vitasek and Fenn, 2017). Facility manager has to
