Facility overview :
Name – M/s McCom Industries (India) Pvt Ltd, located in the outskirts of Thane district, known as
Bhiwandi, in the state of Maharashtra, India. The plant is headed by the Managing Director, Mr Punit
Jain (avoid using Surana) .
It’s an engineering company which manufactures copper, copper MS and MS components for
semiconductor devices such as per the drawings received from its customers.
The company was set-up in 2005 in a total plant area of 9000 sq ft, of which they are currently
occupying 7000 sq ft and 2000 sq ft has been kept open keeping in mind the future expansion plan.
The facility falls in ‘Small and Medium Enterprises’ sector. It is presently working with 23 employees but
are on the lookout for more employees. The employees are a combination of skilled and semi-skilled
manpower and with average experience in this industry of upto 15 years.
The facility caters to major semiconductor and rectifiers manufacturers in India and abroad. The major
client list includes Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Vishay Semiconductor India Ltd, Ruttonsha International
Rectifier Ltd etc. It also exports to countries such as USA, Poland, Russia and is looking to enter into the
markets of Germany and UK.

a. Operation Strategy – the team of this company believes in supplying to its customers – highly
accurate and superior quality products which is its main USP. With the latest technology and
experienced and efficient man-power, the company always aims to execute the orders well in
time and follow the proper dispatch schedule for its customers. It also aims at development,
always looking out for newer technological developments in its field which can give it an edge
over its competitors in terms of quality, productivity and pricing.

process involved are Parting from Copper/MS rods, busbars, brazing (joining together of copper

inspection .

d. Quality Managament/control – The company has the quality certification of ISO 9001:2008 and
follows the quality terms as per their guidelines. The company follows the following pattern for
its inspection :
Incoming raw material – inspected at the incoming stage by checking the sizes, finish of the
material and hardness. Incoming raw material inspection reports made and maintained
Production floor – All machines equipped with measuring instruments such as vernier caliper
and micrometers. In-house drawings are made and maintained for each and every process for all
products. The drawings are easy to understand for skilled and semi-skilled workers. Job cards
are provided at all stages of production and the sizes are checked and details filled in the job
card by every machine operator at regular intervals . Apart from them, there are two plant
inspectors who keep inspecting the bases at different machines and production level.
The products are delivered to the end customer with proper inspection reports.

f. Facility location – Decisions for facilty locations are done by keeping a few things in mind like –
Power distribution (places where we get continual power with no frequent power cuts)/water
supply/proper transportation facility
g. Facility Layout – Facility layout is done as per guidelines of the ISO 9001:2008 certification – with
suitable gaps between machines. Different raw material storage for Copper and MS and
provided with slots for storage as per different sizes. Machines identified with proper
identification numbers/markings.
h. Capacity planning – The plant layout has been done keeping in mind, the provision for future
expansion for procuring of new machines/set up of new inspection lab or for any other purpose
of future expansion
i. Inventory planning management – Forecast received from different clients based on which raw
materials are procured. However as there Is fixed pattern of purchasing from the suppliers end,
inventory of one month ahead is maintained in the plant on normal basis
j. Supply Chain Management – Fixed set of suppliers for different type of raw material such as
copper and MS and also for accessories such as oil, tools, cleaning chemicals and so on.
