ANALYSING OF THE RESULTS
4.0 INTRODUCTION
This chapter will elaborate on the findings of the survey in statistic form and the information that
was gathered from the respondents with the information from the interview that was conducted
on the 5th of July 2019. The data that was received from the survey shall be arranged in the form
of pie charts and tables depending on the type of question.
The outline of the findings is as follows:
The demographic information of respondents
The factors increasing the decline of visitors
The point of view of the students on what could be done to solve this decline problem
The reason of the survey was to gather the best responses from the questions to answer all the
research questions which were to find out why there is a decline of visitors in zoo Negara and
also what could be done in order to increase the rate of visitors at Zoo Negara. The information
collected from the survey of 10 responses showed the reasons why there is a decline of visitors at
Zoo Negara. Some respondents’ answers were not so clear but there were a number of opinions.
This chapter will give an analysis of the results of the survey based on the views provided by the
respondents.

4.1 The demographic information of respondents
There were demographic data results based on the responses provided by the various individuals
regarding the decline of visitors at Zoo Negara. Based on the responses collected from the
survey, 57.7% of the respondents agreed that the environments in which the Zoo are enclosed,
caged and exhibited contribute so much for the decline of the visitors in the area (Abidin, 2016).
In this analysis, 19% strongly agreed with this fact, and finally, 23.8% of the surveyed
respondents disagreed with reality. In this regard, it can be concluded that the environment in
which animals are kept has a significant contributions towards the decline of the visitors in the
area. This is related to the way the animals react towards visitors and how environmental hygiene
is maintained. In this case, the visitors would like to visit Zoo with a clean and well-maintained
environment (Majid & Beastall, 2011). The pie chart below gives the analysis of the results of
the survey conducted on the impact of the environmental conditions in Zoo Negara towards the
decline of the visitors.
Moreover, the data regarding the cruelty of the animal within the zoo and its influence towards
the decline of the visitors at the Zoo was collected and analyzed. Based on the results collected

on animals’ cruelty in the Zoo, the conclusion is found that the number of visitors declined in
fear of such animals from attacking them. Regarding the results obtained from the respondents,
42.9% of the respondent in which the survey was conducted agreed with this fact. Besides, 33.3
% of the respondents strongly agreed that the cruelty of the animals in the Zoo has declined the
visitors to the area. Only 23.8% disagreed with this fact presented. In an analysis of the data
collected on this, the visitors are not interested in visiting the Zoo because of animal cruelty. It
clearly shows that some of the visitors think that brutality of the animals should be looked upon
for them to visit the Zoo. In contrary to this, I disagree with this opinion because animals are
freely moving with the Zoo environment, and they have minimal interaction with the people.
Therefore, I think this is not a strong point to conclude that the cruelty of the animals may have
caused the decline of the visitors. The chart below represents the data discussed in this based on
how visitation has reduced in the Zoo following the idea of cruelty animals.
In the analysis of whether the lack of the appropriate facilities for the visitors is one factor
contributing to the decline of the visitors in the zoo, I agree that this is a correct statement. I
think this is true because if the visitors are not supplied with the facilities they need, obviously

they will not visit the Zoo. Visitors need well-established facilities such as transport means, tour
guides, health facilities, housing facilities, social facilities, among others so as to visit the Zoo.
About the data provided by the respondents, Zoo Negara management has failed in providing the
appropriate facilities for their visitors. This is one of the significant reasons why visitors have
declined in visiting the area. There were 21 responses obtained in this field, and it was found that
19 of 21 responses agreed that inadequate facilities contributed to the declining of the visitors in
the Zoo Negara making a percentage of 90.5%. In this analysis, two respondents did agree with
this, and therefore, this created a disagreement percentage of 9.5%. It is just apparent that
considering the percentage of the respondents who agreed with the fact, inadequate facilities
have contributed a lot in discouraging the visitors from visiting the Zoo Negara. This data is
shown in the below graph.
In matters concerning the increment of the entry fee to the Zoo Negara, the visitors have declined
in number. In this analysis, 21 responses were obtained, whereby 57.1% agreed with this fact.
28.6% strongly agreed on this, but only 14.5% of the respondents disagreed. Considering the

results of this analysis, it is obvious that Zoo Negara has increased the entry fee beyond visitors’
capability. This should be one of the significant factors that have contributed much to the decline
of the visitors at the Zoo (Paramaswaran & Abdul-Aziz, 2012). Visitors are not able to afford the
charges imposed by the Zoo Negara as the entry fee and there they have declined in visiting the
area. Visitors generally are not happy when fees are increased beyond the reasonable payments. I
think many of the visitors have found it too hard to raise the charges needed to visit the Zoo
Negara hence declined visitation. The pie chart represents the information analyzed above.
4.2 The factors increasing the decline of visitors
There are various factors which have lead to the decline of the visitors at the Zoo Negara. Some
of the factors are contributing too much on this decline as compared to others. Based on the data
collected during the individual surveys, lack of interest is one of the factors that contribute to the
declining of the visitors in the Zoo Negara. Some visitors have found to be focused on online
animal documentaries videos than physically visit of the animals in the Zoo. On the issue of the
cruelty, this has not contributed much on the decline of the visitors to the area because it depends
on where the animal is. I think this is not much contributing factor because animals are set free

within their habitats and there is no much interaction with people (Yaacob, 2014). On expensive
fee, many visitors are unable to pay the fee charged and therefore declining to visit the area.
There is poor environment maintenance in Zoo Negara, which is another contributing factor for
this decline. Zoo Negara is not doing any new things for the attraction of the visitors, and they do
not care much about the animals making them inactive in the Zoo. Besides, there is a lack of
promotion, meaning there are no initiatives to change the environment.
4.3 How to solve this decline problem
Solving the declining issue of the visitors in Zoo Negara is one way of important thing to be
done. According to the data collected from the survey, many people supported the action plan to
solve the declining problem of the visitors at the Zoo. Out of 21 respondents, 17 agreed that
reduction of the fee would solve the issue (NGAH, 2011). Three (14.3%) of the respondent did
disagree on this, and one respondent was neutral on this idea making a 4.8%. The below graph
shows the data collected on this.
In addition, improvement of both facilities of the animals and visitors in the animal habitats plays
a significant role in bringing back the visitors to the Zoo. 20 out of 21 respondents agreed with

this fact, but only one respondent disagreed with this action. Also, this is a significant way of
making sure that the visitors start visiting the area in large numbers. Many visitors are attracted
by excellent and appropriate facilities within the Zoo, and therefore, the improvement of the
same will solve the issue of number decline (Kasim, 2015). The graph below shows the graphical
data representation of the information provided.
I think this is one of the best ways of solving the issue of visitors decline to the Zoo.
Furthermore, the addition of the more exhibits to the Zoo increases the number of visitors. In
connection to this, all respondent agreed with this idea meaning it is one of the strong action
plans which should be implemented. The graph below shows how people supported this fact.

CHAPTER 4 AND 5 9
Furthermore, the change of the board of management at the Zoo Negara is one way of promoting
more visitations at the Zoo (Shukri, 2017). I think this is one of the effective actions to be taken
because the new management board will come up with new changes, and therefore, this will
attract more visitors. Based on the data collected after the survey, 55% supported this idea, 30%
agreed very strong on this, but only 15% disagreed. Based on the percentage of those agreed, the
change of the management will indeed be one of the effective ways of increasing the number of
visitors to the Zoo Negara.

4.4 Conclusion
I think more things need to be done to increase the number of visitations at the Zoo. There
should be more advertisement for the Zoo on social media to reach more potential visitors. There
should be also more social activities provided in the Zoo in which parents are encouraged to visit
the Zoo with their children for a certain period for leisure. The animals should be treated well to
keep them active for attraction. The Zoo Negara should host more events and more species of
animals to attract as many visitors as possible. The Zoo should also be free from the tamed
animals to avoid interference with the animals kept in the Zoo. Also, more facilities should be
provided in the Zoo to make sure that visitors get the required services. The prices for the local
and foreigners should be standardized to make sure that they are not too high for the two groups.
Through these action plans, the number of visitors to the Zoo Negara will be increased.
CHAPTER 5
5.1 Summary
The purpose of this study is to determine various factors and reasons as to why there is increased
decline of many visitors in the Zoo Negara. There have been investigations of the reasons for this
decline. Moreover, the suitable measures have been implemented in the study to minimize this
decline of the number of visitors to the Zoo. The significant of the study is directly associated
with the benefits of the board of directors for the zoo management. The study has discussed
various causes of the decline of the visitors in the Zoo. In this regard, some of the reasons
discussed on this include; animal cruelty which is not much contributing factor. There is a Lack
of sufficient spaces within the cages, exhibits, and animal enclosures. There are corruption issues
in the Zoo which has led to the increased entry fee to the Zoo. Mismanagement is another factor

contributing to the decline of visitors to the Zoo. There are some solutions sought to increase the
number of visitors to the Zoo. Some of the solutions that need to be implemented include; a
collection of enough money and making sure that the entry fee is as per the standards of the
visitors. The zoo management team should focus on what attracts more visitors than focusing on
collecting much money. This can be done through the improvement of the facilities within the
Zoo, increasing the animals’ species and ensuring better environmental conditions within the
Zoo. All the information regarding the causes of the declining visitors was collected through the
use of the survey methods. Respondents provided various reviews regarding what was
investigated and the conclusion based on this was drawn.
