INTRODUCTION
Management and operations is a department of company which is
established to monitor and increasing overall efficiency of business.
It focuses on converting raw material in to finished goods as effectively and
efficiently as possible so that profits can be earned.
This Power point presentation covers Key approaches to operations
management. In addition to this, Importance of operations management in

company.

Operations department of M & S monitors output and input
level so that it can be enhanced. This will result in increasing
productivity of M & S and thus objectives of business can be
met.

Operations Manager can improve efficiency by way of focusing on quality management. When leaders
starts focusing on quality performance of employees or overall quality of products than efficiency get
enhanced. Manager of Marks and Spencer helps in meeting business objectives by improving the
quality through keeping a regular check on daily activities of employees and overall production and
quality of organization
Leaders focuses on supply chain management of the company. Operations leader
design supply chain and make strategies for the same. It minimises the risk of the company when

As per Goel (2016), operations department of M & S focuses on quality of the products which
helps the organization in satisfying needs and wants of consumer. This also helps the
establishment in increasing sales because better quality products attracts many customers.
Overall business environment of M & S is the major focus of operation department where they
monitor quality and efficiency. It will result in managing inputs and outputs of resources.
On the other hand, As per Johnstone, (2018) Due to the focus on quality of operations
department of M & S overall cost of the products will get increased. This will affect the
prices of products of the company and declining sales will affect the growth of the
organisation. Many a time, customer does not focus on quality because clothes pricing is
more important for some people. As they believe in wearing it less and often.
