INTRODUCTION
Business consultancy provide professional advice to companies, these advices are highly
effective allowing organization to achieve their goals. This study is based on Fairfield School of
Business (FSB), this institution provide community based learning (Benitez, Cruz-Castro and
Sanz-Menéndez, 2016). This report will discuss problem faced by FSB in their workplace and
will carry out competitive analysis to understand their competitors in the market. Later this
report will discuss target market and segmentation to analyse audience. SWOT and PEST
analysis will be discuss factors that impact the problem faced by FSB. At last this report will
provide recommendation to solve issue faced by client.
MAIN BODY
Problem faced by client:
FSB campus is facing problem in hiring talent in the workplace, effectively identifying
skills and knowledge have become major challenge for the company. It is very clear that
recruitment process of business is one of the most challenging task which means business need
to be careful in hiring (Czerniawska, 2016). FSB campus is being facing problem of selective
hiring of skills and knowledge, this company want to hire highly skilled staff member which can
allow them to attract the customer.
Competitor analysis:
Porter five force allow company to examine competition in the market, these are:
Rivalry: FSB face rivalry from other community based organization who tend to provide
effective service to their student, competitors of FSB are John Ruskin college who have practice
of hiring skilled staff (Almeida and Santos, 2018).
New Entry: FSB have threat of competition from new entry who have effective strategy to
overcome competition from already established college. FSB will going to face competition from
Croydon community college who is newly opened and have skilled staff.
Power of customer: customer means student who have high power which impact FSB college,
demand of skilled staff is rising by these students.
Power of supplier : FSB have recruitment agency as their main supplier, they provide highly
skilled staff to FSB. These supplier have great power which influence the performance of
college.

Treat of substitute: FSB faced threat of substitute from these new entry, FSB have effective
teaching intervention which allow them to be more competitive, these entries can steal concept
of FSB and become more effective (Bruijl, 2018).
Target audience and segmentation:
Segmentation: segmentation is market corner which allow company to position their product
and service in the target market, FSB have student as their target customer. This college can
segmented their customer according to course they are looking for. According to age, gender and
education level, FSB can segmented their customer.
Target audience: FSB have clear target audience which are student, this college can target their
audience according to their interest in community based learning. To convert these audiences
into potential customer, FSB college have to provide discount on course and allow customer to
have free trail.
Positioning: FSB college is facing problem of hiring skilled staff in their campus, this college
need to position their course in the market to attract new customer and even those potential staff
who can provide better knowledge and teaching to student of FSB college.
SWOT analysis:
Strength: strength of FSB college lies in wide range of course they provide with high quality of
learning, another strength of FSB lies in strong customer base which remain loyal to college
(GURL, 2017).
Weakness: weakness of FSB college lies in less skilled staff available with them, this college is
facing problem in hiring skilled specialist in their campus which have become weakness of FSB
college.
Opportunity: FSB college have opportunity to expand in nearby town because this college have
reputation in providing community based learning to student. High quality of work unlock
various opportunity for FSB such as strong customer base unlock opportunity to generate.
Threat: FSB have certain threat around them which can impact their performance for example
poor hiring practice provide competitive advantage to their competitors allowing them to get
ahead of FSB (Sarsby, 2016).
ABC framework:
Adversity: adversity means situation that cause the problem, FSB have being facing problem of

that when process of hiring is not done properly then this type of issue may arise, FSB have poor
hiring process which cause them to performance less effective.
Employee morale: employee morale is one of the biggest reason of problem faced by FSB
college because if college hire employee with less interest in performing job then their
performance will be badly impacted. Poor morale of employee become origin of issue faced by
FSB college.
Lack of knowledge: lack of knowledge impact performance of hiring process, it is very clear
that when HR department of FSB do not have adequate knowledge of hiring and recruiting then
they can not solve this issue faced by them. Lack of knowledge means HR professional do not
know what question should be asked in interview.
PEST analysis:
Political factor: the Education and Skill Funding Agency (ESFA) of UK government allow both
student and college to avail funds from government for education purpose. New policy of
government push FSB to change their curriculum and should adopt selective hiring practice for
better education to student (Perera, 2017).
Economy factor: stability of education sector of UK is favourable for all college and
educational organization, FSB can benefit their college with stability of economy of UK.
Economic factors such as working hour of staff impact FSB college and their growth, after

COVID-19 impact, UK government have reduce working hour for teachers and education
specialist.
Social factor: customer behaviour of FSB college can be understood with social factor, it is very
clear that trend in social factor drive trend in educational sector of the country. FSB college gets
impact on their education policy due to changing behaviour customer, new curriculum need to be
adopted to fulfil the demand of student.
Technological factor: technological in education is one of the most important thing, FSB need
to have the latest technology to solve hiring problem faced by them. With advance technology,
FSB college can increase student satisfaction. Technological have become more important in
education field because after COVID-19 impact, student prefer schooling online.
Legal factor: legal factor means all rules and regulation and legislation process FSB need to
have in the process, FSB need to complete all document of legislation to be safe from any kind
of lawsuit and illegal activities.
Environmental factors: FSB need to ensure they remain effective in managing nature and its
importance, this college need to ensure sustainability should be promoted at every process they
tend to follow to overcome environmental factors which impact the smooth process of FSB.
Recommendation:
Proper interview: FSB facing problem of hiring skilled staff and specialist, it is recommended
for FSB to improve their poor interviewing process. Sometimes poor process of interviewing
which means HR professional do not have knowledge of asking question. This often happened in
FSB which become reason for problem in hiring skilled staff. By adopting knowledgable hiring
process, FSB can solve this problem.
Skills identification: skill identification is the best way to overcome hiring problem faced by
FSB college, this issue impacted performance of college which need to be solved. FSB need to
identify morale of employee by analysing their skills, for example effective communication
skills is key factor of employee who are skilled and knowledgable.
Sufficient knowledge: sufficient knowledge is the best way to improve hiring process, FSB have
poor hiring process which means their HR professional are lacking behind in adequate
knowledge. HR of FSB need to gain more knowledge on hiring and recruiting process, with high
