Family and Christians
Family is the single most influential force in the modern day society that shapes the tone for
personal values of an individual. This is because for an individual it is the family from whom
they learn. It is the upbringing and the values of the family that shapes the personal value as
well. What an individual have been taught when they were a children has a direct impact on
developing their moral self (Bainbridge, 2012). The rights and wrongs they have seen in their
family have a larger impact on the values of an individual. Practices of the family play a
greater role in shaping the moral ethics within the individuals. For example a boy grown in
the criminal families have seen crimes at their doorsteps, there is more likely a chance that
the boy will have no fear of crimes or the judicial systems. On the other hand a person grown
in the priest family more likely to have higher faith in god while doing things and performing
tasks.
Bible suggests many things about family especially the necessity of making a family. It is
having positive affect on the Christians. This is seen by the many verses written in the Bible.
Verse “Exodus 20:12” suggests that when a person honours their father and mother, god
blesses him/her with a longer life (Shutterfly, 2019). It teaches to respect father and mother.
In the Bible Verse “Psalm 133:1”, there is a suggestion that it is always good and pleasant
when people live in unity. This togetherness comes from family hence it teaches Christians to
stay together in a harmony helping each other in their difficult phases of lives.
It is advised that people should live in family as this makes them a stronger force while
dealing with things and challenges in life. Family helps a person in building good values at
the same time it helps them in having a natural support when in need. It is advised that people
live in families where customs have a strong position as it enables them to learn how to be
social. It is also advised that people maintain bigger families rather than modern day smaller
families.
