INTRODUCTION
Family nurse practitioners are the nurses which are registered in advance practice. They
are indulged in working together with healthcare professionals in order to provide care that is
family focused. These nurses have a responsibility to create care plans for acute or chronic
disorders (Brom & et.al. (2016). They lay emphasis on improving the health outcomes and well-
being of patients. Report discusses how clinical and non clinical roles of family nurse
practitioner enhances service users outcomes. It highlights advance nursing concepts that would
support in taking interview.
MAIN BODY
Difference between clinical and non clinical roles of nurses
Family nurse practitioners perform various clinical and non clinical roles that supports
patients in accessing healthcare services which are safe. It also educates service users regarding
diseases they are going through. It has been analysed that with the advancing complexity in
health care services, many patients are consulting family nurse practitioners for their primary
treatment wants. These nurses perform clinical roles while providing acute care that includes
conducting of diagnostic tests and procedures for the patients suffering from acute or chronic
illness. They are required to treat service users from childhood to adulthood.
These nurses are also involved in analysing and examining the signs and symptoms of
diseases faced by patients. They support patient in early detection of disorders that allows them
in overcoming the disease easily. Family nurse practitioners also perform pharmacological tasks
such as giving certain type of medicines if service user is going through problems like headache,
stomach-ache, vomit or any other (Barnes (2015). Clinical role of nurses also includes providing
safe healthcare treatment to patients. They are involved in collaborating with team to give
healthcare services. These make sure that treatment provided to them is safe and secure plus no
medication error occurs while imparting them care. Family care nurse practitioners provides
holistic care that is beyond the administration of medications and various other therapeutical
procedures (Trautmann & et.al. (2015). They also make decision relating to patients treatment in
collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Nurses have responsibility to make patients
understand about their care planning process, disease, medication, treatment to their best ability.
However, non clinical role of family nurse practitioners involves that they provide
support in order to indulge service users in care and treatment process. Nurses are also involved

in educating patients about the disease or disorders they are going through. They are engaged in
giving emotional support to service users so that these people share their thoughts, beliefs and
views with nurses. This helps family nurse practitioner in providing healthcare services which
are based on cultural values of patients. It enhances the relationship between nurses and service
users which indirectly improves well-being of service users (Dillon & et.al. (2016). They are also
indulged in providing health related information such as how to include fibre products in their
meal. Nurses also support patients in engaging them in physical activities like exercise, aerobics,
yoga. This assists service users in making them fit and healthy.
Family practitioner nurses plays most important role in patients education. This task
performed by nurses reduces costly readmissions of service users to hospitals. Nurses provides
care in a way that supports them to evaluate physical demands and wants of service users. These
nurses encompass the developmental, cultural and spiritual needs of patients (Graves & et.al.
(2016). Family practitioner nurses are also involved in doing patient advocacy, so that the best
interest of service user is being maintained and also dignity is been established throughout the
care process.

Findings
It has been analysed that family nurse practitioner by observing and keenly monitoring
the patients evaluates the signs and symbols related to disease faced by service users. According
to Roles of nurse practitioners and family physicians in community health centres, (2012) nurses
impart emotional support by involving in effective communication with patient.
Research design- Cross-sectional study has been used in the article and administrative data are
also been utilised.
Participants- A total of 44849 patients were included in the study.
Results- Patients who have received care from family practitioner nurses are been seen with
improved health conditions and well-being.
According to FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER’S ROLE IN PRIMARY CARE, (2010) it
has also been find out that family nurse practitioner by imparting patient education and
information related to diseases help in improving their health outcomes. They impart them
emotional support, so that there views, beliefs and thoughts are been known to them.
Research design- Qualitative and descriptive study has been used in the article
Participants- Patients suffering from acute and chronic disease has been taken
Results- Clinical role performed by family nurse practitioner has assisted them in making
patients aware about the risk that can be faced by them.
CONCLUSION
From the entire report, it has been summarised that both clinical and non clinical roles
has performed by family nurse practitioner. Both the roles assist them in improving health
outcome of patients. It also supports them in providing health information to patients. Nurses
imparts them with education related to disease in order to make them aware about risk.
Furthermore, assignment also discusses about the questions such as how do you identify the
signs and symptoms of diseases faced by patients. These questions have been asked in the
interview to clinician. Report highlighted about the findings like service users treated by family
nurse practitioner are seen with improved health conditions.
