NURSING 1
Introduction
In this paper, the discussion is made on the topic “Family and careers have a significant
impact on individual’s recovery”. In this paper, a Family-Focused therapy will be used by a
registered nurse to cure a mental health patient. This article will represent the supporting
literature to discuss the importance of this theory in treatment.
Issued Identified
It is observed that a mental health issue is the stage inn which the people face many
challenges related to treatment such as mood swings, panic disorder, eating disorder, and mental
disorder (Morin2019). Family also faces challenges in order to tackle a patient especially when
they have high level of stress and facing the challenges of mental disorder.
During the internship period in hospital, I handled a live case where I found the Family-
Focused therapy effective on a patient who is suffering with the mental disorder. He does not
want to talk with anyone, he also wants to be alone, he also does not like anything and the many
other things that he faces. It is very difficult for his family to tackle him with his mood swings.
Use of Therapy
Family Centered Practice is based upon the belief that the best way to meet a person’s
needs is within their family. According to Jadonnia, (2017), Family centered approaches are
often portrayed as similar or equal to each other. As per this author, engaging families is both
science and an art as it helps the children to get recover from the illness.

NURSING 2
According to Baker-Ericzen and others, Being a registered nurse, I would like to implement this
therapy as it helps me to tackle the family and the patient especially in the case of mental
disorder. The main motive to implement this theory on families or parents is effective use of
motivation from the family bonds and enthusiasm building strategies to motivate a patient to
fight with and overcome to the disease. Apart from the patients the family also face the challenge
so as nurse application of the theory will always make sure that the families s are aware about
the treatment this will help them to that they tackle their children at in the challenging stage.
Professional development helps to change an individual’s outlook towards the career so that they
move forward and attain success.
According to Maybery and Morgan, main challenge that are associated with the
implication of theory is opposing behavior of patient to accept the treatment and rapid changes in
their behavior. It is tough to understand their mood that changes quickly. They also focus on
negative things instead of positive things due to which it is tough for them to recover quickly
(The University of Lowa, 2019).
Conclusion
At the end, it is concluded that family centered theory is the best theory that helps to
recover the mental health patient who are disappointed due to failure in professional or personal
life or from their illness. Family engagement and motivation for the career is the best way to
recover or to move in the career that helps to achieve the success.
