AI Summary
This case study examines the impact of a newly implemented Management Information System (MIS) at Farm Bank, focusing on its effects across various organizational dimensions. Reasons for the organizational system’s impact
Recently, the Board of Directors at Farm Bank approved the designing and installation of
a comprehensive management information system (MIS) with the intention of improving the
internal operations. This is to be achieved by supplying information faster, thereby reducing the
time required to service its customers. As a result, the new system was expected to result in
positive outcomes within the organization’s structure, technical, goals, management,
psychosocial and overall behavior among the staff.
Structure
As a whole, the MIT system has had an impact on the structure of the organization. For
instance, when the system was designed, the head of the MIS department appointed an assistant
to foresee the implementation and conduct an analysis of the system. Notably, Ms Wyatt is the
only woman within the organization working at the top level management. Indeed, the system
has brought about a significant change in the structure of the Farm Bank.
Psychosocial
It is also worth noting that the system has created a number of psychosocial elements
within the Farm Bank. According to the findings of the Survey, it was found that approximately
85 percent of the staff still kept their records in the manual format because they lacked complete
and total trust in the new system. Lack of trust in the new system is a major layback on its
success, but a major impact on the psychosocial element of the staff within the organization.

Technical
Fundamentally, the MIS system has had a major impact on the technical component of
the organization. Specifically, it has brought about a shift from the manual system to a more
comprehensive management system (MIS). As a result, it has provided thousands of documents
of operating information including monthly, weekly and quarterly reports of the bank’s
operations.
Management
Additionally, the new system has brought about significant changes in the management
of the Farm Bank. Precisely, it has brought about additional positions in the management
structure with the formation of the new post of assistant to the Vice President of the MIS. What
is more, it has brought about significant improvement in management operations as it helps in
decision making among managers in the organization.
Behavior
From the case study, it is rather difficult to establish any significant impact of the new
MIS system on the behavior of individuals within the organization. Even so, it is apparent that
the program has improved cohesion and communication among managers of different
departments and branches of Farm Bank.
Goals
It is apparent that the MIS system has significantly impacted on the goals of the
organization as a whole. Particularly, this is attributed to the fact that the system was designed
and implemented with the aim of improving management operations within the bank. Also, the

system’s goal was to enhance the internal functions by supplying important data on a more
expedited basis and, thus, as a result decrease the time to service the clientele. Furthermore, it
has impacted on the firm’s goals on matters relating.
