In the start of the second month of the internship I was acquainted to the nature of
operations that I needed to comply with in order to gain effectiveness in operations while
operating in the industry. It was my main motive to gain favourable nature of outcomes in the
said industry. The first week of the second month started as I found myself in a position,
responsible for sewing and working with material that I had been just familiarized with. Thus,
I had butterflies in my stomach. Even if I knew that I was on the path to becoming good in
the said activities, I was nervous as I was new performing with new clients. I received
constant support from Khalil and Mustafa who were constantly helping as they realized that I
was having difficulties in coping with the problems such as nervousness. I believe that they
have the experience to identify whether an individual is under pressure by just looking the
face. Thus, excellent fashion wear designing was not just their only skill. I received a great
deal of support from their end throughout the first week of the second month.
Just like in every industry, employee engagement was something that was valued. I
believe that me being a new joinee influenced the invitation that all the members of the
boutique were subject to with form the part of Khalil. Khalil invited all the employees of the
boutique to his place for dinner. All the employees of the boutique went to his place. I was
personally moved by his portfolio that he had in his house. Some of his best works were put
up on various wall of his house. I was not only able to understand that he was great at his
work but he was a really good craftsman. I loved that craftsmanship was instated into his life
that he put up his works all across his house. This opportunity provided me the opportunities
to jell with the rest of the workers. Usually the working hours are so busy and length that we
did not get chances to interact or socialize with each other. However, we could not let this
opportunity go away. The third week of the internship went well as people were mingling
properly and the culture seemed to be bubbling. I was gradually getting the hand of the

proceeding that were needed to be carried out by professionals and with newly developed
relationships with the other members of the boutique, I believe I bounced back nicely.
The first part of the fourth week of the second month I was engaged in the activities
and I felt that I already became a part of the profession, I also felt that I was ready to make it
a starting career. The latter part of the week I was busy reminiscing what happed throughout
the month. I was keen enough in identifying the key points or transition from the beginning
of the month till the month end.
The first week of the third month of started off with me being motivated as the culture
was according to my liking with all the people mingling with each other. I value interaction
as it does not make work feel like work. Hence, I was not being able to gain effectiveness in
terms of development of string bond with the members of the boutique, I was informed by
Mustafa that Nawal would be showing up on 9th of that month. I latter came to know that he
would be here to conduct performance appraisals that the boutique carries out every eight
weeks and thus, it was time. Soon the next week arrived and Nawal was here, communicating
with the employees, looking at how everyone has been working. This, time I was not nervous
as I knew him before and that he has an attitude that eases people to work and be
comfortable. He soon informed that a 360-degree appraisal will be carried out. He later
elaborated what was being carried out and why was it being carried out. I found out that this
process was carried out by the individual to ensure that the employees were performing
effectively and that there are no problems that are hindering the day to day activities.
The second week passed with me engages to the activity of trying to be better at using
the tambour needle. I believe that I was making progress at fast rates and me being able to
invest time in the same resulted in me effectively coping with the proceeding of the
challenging industry. Again, in the third week of the month I found myself working at

everything, I would work in the leather section on Monday through Tuesday and would find
myself working on embroidery the next two days and then working on accessorizing the next
day. Thus, I was working on everything. However, unlike before, the long working hours
were not feeling like long working hours, I was enjoying what I was doing. I felt that I was at
home with the activities that was carrying out. By the start of the last week of the third month
of the internship, the results of the performance appraisals came out and I found out that I
received appreciation form all my superiors and the employees of the boutique. Nawal told
me that it was a big feat for an intern to achieve. Thus, I was very happy and continued to
work while fully motivated for the rest of the week.
I can now reflect regarding the degree to which my experiences changes throughout
the last two months. It started off with me being nervous at the job, to an invitation at Khalil’s
that gave me the opportunity to mingle with my colleagues. This helped all the employees in
feeling a strong sense of culture. I believe this reflected ibn my work and as a result of which
I was on the receiving end of appreciation in the performance appraisal.
