INTRODUCTION
Fashion house is a company which specialises in designing and selling high fashioned
clothes and other fashion accessories (Edelmann and Mohr, 2018). The main aim of this project
report is to build an understanding about the influence of fashion houses on trends of an industry.
In this report various fashion houses are analysed in order to ascertain their effect. Other aspects
of fashion industry such as hair, makeup and photography is also evaluated in this report.
MAIN BODY
Effect of fashion houses on the trends within the industry.
Trends are referred to the preferable choices of most of the individuals which is
determined by specific forces. Trends in fashion industry is considered to be influenced most by
the fashion houses such as Dior, channel, Alexander McQueen and etc. Factors of these fashions
houses which effect trends within the industry are mentioned below:
Technology - According to current scenario of the world, technology is the most
influential force. In this case, fashion houses indulges technology in their operations such as
using for advanced machinery by which texture of cloth differs from regular piece of clothing.
Using this kind of material becomes a trend which has impacted other companies of industry
also. For example: Dior is a fashion brand which believes in designing clothes with best of
machines to get different texture and these type of cloth is in trend (Härkönen, 2018)
Celebrities and influencers - Fashion brands invest high value to design and
manufacture their designer pieces but without any marketing there is less chances of attaining
reliable profits. It is considered that customers are tend to purchase those items which are in
trend. In order to set a trend and influence it, fashion houses market their clothes through
celebrities or fashion influencers. For example: Channel has recently signed Kristen Stewart, a
well known Hollywood celebrity to be their brand ambassador.
Consumer needs - Following the fact that products which are in necessity are able to
earn a treasure. Fashion Houses such as Alexander McQueen tend to influence trend by
designing clothes which are observed to be a necessity for customers. For example: Alexander
McQueen started to design clothes for customers of India and in order to inflict the trend they
ascertained the necessity of those customers which is to have clothes with a combination of
ethnicity and fashion.

Difference between hair and makeup
Typically it is considered that managing and styling hairs is involved in the process of
make up but there are various differences with classify both of these activities. Hair and make up
are both related to fashion. Under the segment of hairs, hairs are designed and managed by
various professionals. In the segment of make up, face and other parts of body are enhanced
through make up products by make up professionals. Both of these segments differ from each
other but also are related. In the case of fashion industry, models require both the services of hair
and make up. Professionals of both of these segments can be different or can be same.
The art of managing hair is different from make up as it requires to deal with hairs of an
individual. In the process of styling of hair, various activities can include such as hair cut, hair
spa, hair accessories, colouring, steaming, processing and many more. There are various tools
which are required by professionals to style an individual's hair such as comb, dryers, steamers,
curling machines and many more.
According to the segment of make up, face and other body parts of an individual are
styled. There are various attributes which are enhanced using make up tools such as facial
features of eyes, nose, lips, cheeks and more. Make up segment is much more wider section of
grooming as it involves numerous activities. Tools which are usually used by make professionals
to style individuals are make up kits, body care products, grooming products and many more
(Dhar, 2018).
Difference between two fashion editorial photographers
Fashion editorial photography is a process of photography for the purpose of publication
in fashion magazines and newspapers. These editorial images are usually published with few
subjects. This process of photography is done by professionals photographers. In order to better
understand this concept, two editorial photographers are selected which are Steven Meisel and
Patrick Demarchelier. Steven is an American fashion photographer who works in United States
and Italian Vogue. On the other hand Patrick is a friend fashion photographer works in different
parts of the world. The major difference between these two individuals is that Steve works more
for fashion magazines and even books but Patrick works for actresses working in Hollywood
movies. Both of these photographers are considered as best at their work and has attained success
but the approach used by both of them is different. Patrick follows the approach of career

advancement due to which he decided to work for well known celebrities and influencers.
Whereas Steve decided to adopt quality approach and worked with individuals with whom there
was a wide scope of betterment. Another main difference between both of these photographers is
their field of work. As Patrick works in fashion industry but for big shot directors and producers
of Hollywood movies whereas Steve works for publications such as fashion magazines
(Dahlgren, 2018).

.CONCLUSION
From the project report it has been ascertained that fashion houses influence trends within
the industry by using various aspects such as technology and marketing. By analysing segment
of hair and make up, it has been concluded that both of these segments are different from each
other and is performed by different individuals. Attributes and workings of two fashion editorial
photographers are compared to better understand this concept.
