INTRODUCTION
Fatal accidents refer to accidents which majorly results in death of one or more
individual. They can be prevented by taking some effective measures. In Malaysia number of
deaths in accidents is increasing every year. This essay will discuss about different causes of
fatal accidents in Malaysia. Also, it will describe what effective measures can be taken to avoid
these accidents in the country.
MAIN BODY
In recent times, there has been rise in fatal road accidents in Malaysia. There has been
many deaths occurred due to it (Goniewicz & et.al., 2016). Moreover, government is not able to
reduce accident rate. The stats related to fatal accidents are as follows :-
2.0 deaths per 10,000 registered vehicles
10 deaths per 10,000 population
10 deaths per billion vehicle kilometre travelled
Causes and solutions of fatal road accidents in Malaysia
There are many causes of accidents which are as follows :-
Reckless driving- Many driver drive vehicles in very harsh way. They do not follow traffic rules
and regulations as well. Also, while driving they talk on mobiles or do not wear seat belt.
Sometimes, they drink and drive which often result in accident.
Over Speeding
Over speeding is major cause of accidents in Malaysia. Many vehicles like cars, trucks,
etc. drive very fast and sometime cross driving speed on highways. Due to this accidents occurs
which result in death of driver or person.
Large vehicles
It is another cause where often large vehicles such as tricks, buses, etc. get entered in city
or crowded area. This leads to accidents or casualty (Martin & et.al., 2017).
There are several solutions that can be undertaken by Malaysian government in order to
reduce road accidents. They are described below :-
Constructing speed breakers
This can be controlled by building speed breakers on such sensitive locations where
major accidents occurs due to over speeding. Moreover, sign boards must be put on roadside that
define speed of vehicles. It will help in reminding drivers about speed limit.

Developing rules and policies
It can be solved by restricting the entry of large vehicles in city. Another solution that can
be applied is setting specific time in which trucks are allowed to enter in city. It will benefit in
maintaining flow of traffic.
Developing right attitude about driving
The government can include some practices in issuing of driving license (Prats-Uribe &
et.al., 2018). They can limit driving hours in night and provide training to passengers about safe
driving.
Formulating safety rules
The government can formulate safety rules to ensure that proper safety measures and
equipment’s are installed in vehicles.
CONCLUSION
It can be concluded that deaths in fatal accidents in Malaysia is increasing every year.
The main causes of fatal road accidents are reckless driving, over speeding, etc. the measures
that can be taken to reduce accidents are constructing speed breakers in sensitive areas,
developing rules and polices related to large vehicles, etc.
