Project Title: Analysis of critical factor of construction projects in Australia
The construction company taken is “Buckeridge Group of Companies (BGC)” and the
successful project is construction of Perth Arena.
1. Describe the role of the industry consultant and their years of working in
the industry
The role of industry consultant is giving advices to the construction industry to improve
over its business performance focused on operations, structure, profitability as well as business
strategy. The industry consultant is engaged in construction project to choose construction
professionals, contractors and review the budget plan. The consultant is working for 5 years in
the industry.
2. Summary of the questions presented to the industry representative/
consultant
2.1 Importance of the research topic for the industry
The research study provides key importances for the construction industry as the nature
of this industry is complex and project oriented, therefore identification of key success factors
are required. It is main contributions to Australian economy while it provides impact on the
country (Darko and Chan 2016). The paper is discussed on identification of critical success
factors throughout the literature review in project execution stages.

2.2 Justification of the research
For the construction project of constructing Perth Arena in Australia, there are various
deficiencies as well as project delays are occurred and continued to happen. The research body is
existed with identification of major causes of the project delay and literature study identified the
success factors.
2.3 Feasibility of the proposed methodology for answering the research question
The literature study is conducted to determine research focus group. Primary data
collection method is used to determine the critical construction factors into the construction
industry. It is performed through survey of the employees of selected business organization-
Buckeridge Group of Companies (BGC) those are involved in the construction work of Perth
Arena for identifying delay factors in the construction project. Qualitative data analysis is
performed to examine correlation of critical factors as well as project delay factors.
2.4 Findings of the research study
From the entire research work, it is found that project delay factors are existed into the
construction industry in Australia exposed throughout problems affected the project delivery
presentation (Chou and Pramudawardhani 2015). There is undertaking of correlation between
critical success factors plus delay factors in the Perth Arena Project.
3. Recommendations from the industry consultant
Increase in uncertainties in the technology, budget as well as construction development
procedures creates an active construction industry. The study on the critical factors is required to
understand and improve over effectiveness of the construction projects. It is recommended to

identify the construction failures, correlated success factors, and improvement into the
construction industry focused on problems which provide impact on the project success in
addition to performance.
Based on the selected research topic on critical factors in the construction project in
Australia, it is recommended that following are list of the questions which are discussed in the
literature review such as:
1. What are causes of the project delays in Australia’s Perth Arena construction
project?
2. How delay factors are correlated to the critical success in the construction
industry?
3. How the critical factors are providing impact on the project success and business
performance?
The objectives of this research study are explained through study of literature and critical
factors in the construction business. The part of this study is summarized causes for the plan
delays to the construction project and explored critical success factors. Following are the other
recommendations which are suggested for the industry consultant to make improvement into the
project such as:
Local research: Australian construction project work has lack of empirical research in
selected study area. This study will require investigating critical factors for the development
success in the building project of Perth Arena. This study will require obtaining base on
additional local research carried out for making development towards the project presentation
into the Australian construction business.

Implementation of project management system: Further research will require
investigating on the improvements in the project due to implementing of project management
system. This system would lead towards tangible outcomes for planning, scheduling and project
monitoring aspects. Implementation of this system will overcome with cultural as well as
business issues.
Design and build procurement method: It is recommended to apply design and build
procurement technique for construction work. It is useful to adopt of new approaches to contract
procedures and provide efficient control systems.
4. Improvement in the research proposal
4.1 Justification of the topic and question
The topic is necessary for research as the researcher is referring to the construction
activities and factors which are completed on higher quality standard to achieve the project goal.
There is an in-depth investigation of the critical factors affecting the design build project and
quality performance (Mhatre 2017). The critical success factors help the researcher to gain the
organizational goal by overcoming with the barriers into competitive environment.
The first question will analyze the causes behind the delays in the Perth Arena
construction so that on time the issues are mitigated. Second question is based on delay factors
which are connected with the critical success factors in the construction business to analyze
relationship connecting significant in addition to delay factors. The third question analyzes on
impact and effect of those factors on the project success rate.

4.2 Importance to the industry
The research findings are active for the experts as well as educational which will insert
construction development management body of knowledge. The selected topic is measured to
relate and minimize the problems caused into the construction of Perth Arena. The experience of
researcher with the issues into the construction projects in Australia and beginning learning of
the chosen project in building projects are meeting with delays (Alruqi and Hallowell 2019).
4.3 Feasibility
The study is required to perform preliminary data analysis and survey research to
understand the selected topic efficiently. All the data are to be reviewed as well as analyzed
using qualitative method included focus group, interview and observations. Quantitative method
is used to perform survey through questionnaires from the employees of Buckeridge Group of
Companies involved in Perth Arena construction project. Sample size is also mentioned in the
study and respondents selected for this research study is 50 employees. The selected method is
included with research concepts as well as methods from the academic fields.
