INTRODUCTION
Academic writing is the formal style of writing which is used in Universities as well as
scholarly publications. The present essay also assists to raise the understanding pertaining to the
same. For that, the essay describes four common features of academic writing and also determine
the personal experience of writing the same.
Describing four features of academic writing
Academic writing serve as a tool of communication which deliver acquired knowledge
within a specific field of a study. The common feature of this are as mentioned below:
Structure: It is one of the most common feature which helps to understand the pattern of
an essay or any report. This characteristic stated the type of writing which convey the exact
message to reader (Zikirina, 2020). The structure while writing academic style report depicts that
it has an introduction, main body and discussion whereas essay has a clear thesis statement
which contain paragraphs with topic sentence as well as different part of writing that is clearly
connected. Hence, this feature entails that there must be a proper planning so that proper and
clear progression of ideas can delivered.
Formal: Another important feature of the academic writing which depicts that there must
be a formal way of writing the things because using a complex and longer words does not deliver
a sense of ideas to readers. Thus, the writer must avoid using informal words of expression
because it affects the meaning. The major difference between writing academic essay is using of
words and collocation which helps to understand the meaning, it also helps students to improve
the vocabulary and word list that helps to generate the best outcomes and improve the results as
well.
Precise: Academic writing is well known for their clear and precise language which
helps readers to understand the meaning (Yu and Liu, 2021). However, it also includes the use of
technical vocabulary that convey the exact meaning as compared to non-technical term.

Critical: Academic writing is more than just writing or describing the thing. Therefore,
this feature stated that, there is no need just accept everything or read the facts. Whereas, it is all
about understanding the information and then critically evaluate the terms so that effective
judgment can be derived. With the help of critic, reader understand the meaning of different
author’s point of view so that effective results can be derived. This in turn aid to decide whether
there is a need to integrate the same into a writing or not. Hence, this feature assists to create an
effective judgement so that range of effective solution can be derived.
Therefore, it has been clearly stated that with the help of such features of academic
writing, a positive result can be derived and this in turn help student in their personal as well as
professional growth.
Personal experience
Throughout the entire study, it has been analyzed that I improve many skills pertaining to
academic writing. Earlier, I do not have enough knowledge pertaining to writing, but the study or
essay provides me an opportunity to complete the same (Fang and Park, 2020). Also, while
writing the same, I learn to use the punctuation and sentence correction, earlier I have strong
vocabulary only, but the present study helps me to improve the writing skills and this will also be
helpful in near future. In addition to this, I also analyzed that academic writing allows me to
think in an analytical way and it also assist to collect as well as analyze the information so that it
can be communicate in well manner.
Moreover, with the help of this, I am able to increase the vocabulary and this in turn
assists to generate the best outcomes in near future as well. On the other side, I also understand
the structure of academic writing and its importance along with structure that will also help in
future. Further, I also face many challenges pertaining to academic writing like earlier I do not
have enough knowledge to write the same. However, with the help of tutor and online material
available, I am, able to improve the skills and this in turn assists me to write the same in effective
manner (Song, 2020). Therefore, I can say that I have a good experience throughout the module,
as I improve the communication skills and that is why, I am now able to express the things to
others. In my past days, I only have a theoretical knowledge and that is why, I faces many
challenges during starting time. This in turn assists to generate the best outcomes and I also

Overall, I can say that entire experience is good and it is the only way that helps me to
improve the knowledge as well as skills pertaining to academic writing. Thus, enhancing my
writing, communication skills and analyzing the features of writing academic essay report will
further help me in future (Dorji, 2021). Though I also identified many loopholes which might
affect the entire study in opposite manner. That is why, focusing upon the skills and suggesting
ways to improve the same will be more beneficial in future. Hence, it can be stated that through
the study, I am able to share my experience and learn skills that can be used in future.

By summing up above essay, it has been concluded that academic writing helps to collect
relevant information and generate the best outcome. Also, the study concluded that with the help
of effective academic writing, individual learn different things which includes improve the
vocabulary, writing style, understanding relating to different words etc. Hence, the entire study
reflected that the present essay assists to share the personal experience in order to generate the
best outcome.
