Organization and teamwork
Organization is the action of coordinating, planning, structuring and administration of functions
in a given set-up. It is putting things together in a logical manner for effectiveness and efficiency.
Teamwork- teamwork is the co-operation and coordinating of functions between members
working on a particular task. It can also be defined as the willingness of people with the single
aim of working together to get to a common goal or target (Fay, et al, 2015).
The importance of effective planning and organization
Planning is chattering a way forward in an organization to achieve a certain goal. It’s important
because;
1. Ensure that there is effective and efficient use of organizational resources
2. Helps in establishment of organizational goals and targets
3. Planning helps to manage uncertainties and risks that may occur
4. Promotes the spirit of team building and corporation as everyone knows their
responsibilities.
5. Helps to create organizational competitive advantage (Hanaysha, 2016)
Importance of good intra- and interpersonal skills
Good inter and intra personal skills helps one to be;
1. Relatable with others
2. Show an employee is socially aware
3. It helps in fostering easy and effective communication
4. Enhances transparency which increases trust among members
5. Maintains and fosters personal relationships
6. They are characteristics of a making of a good leader
The role of team leaders and team members
A single person sometimes may not be effective enough in making decisions. That is why a
team is needed. The role of a team leader include;

1. Guiding the team members and offering them enough motivation to stay focused. Example, a
team leader will calm the team members and reconcile them in cases of conflicts.
2. he/she is a mentor or sometimes even a spiritual leader in a team. Example a team must be
able to gain from the leader’s talent and mentorship (O'Neill, and McLarnon, 2018).
3. He is the face of the team and their losses and successes are seen as his entirely.
Purpose of proper team processes
The purpose of a team process is to provide a basic framework that increases the effectiveness
of each member and enable them to participate in problem-solving, planning and decision
making to achieve organizational goals (Para-González, et al 2018).

1. Lack of trust - Susan, A team member says that Felicity is an Idiot and
comes up with the worst ideas. She is also a control freak.
2. Low
engagement
- Susan and James show how the team is disengaged. James
had a hard time looking for a venue while Susan got a very
good venue but they could not engage with each other.
Felicity too cannot be able to control the group.
3. Language
barriers
- A member of Felicity team says that he had plenty of ideas
but felt unsure of how to express them due to his inability to
clearly communicate in English. Very few people too showed
patience with him while communicating.
4. Not sharing
information
- This is illustrated better by Susan and James not sharing
information on their venues. Felicity too send emails to each
team member but never found any replies on her email. They
did not also ask Felicity on the progress of the team.
5. Conflict and
tension
- Susan is showing that she is in conflict with almost everyone.
She says that Felicity is an idiot and a control freak while she
cannot share information with James too.

Conclusions on effectiveness of Felicity’s team
Planning and organizing- felicity’s team is highly ineffective when it comes to organizing ad
planning. They cannot plan on who has which role and felicity cannot plan for them.
Intra-and interpersonal skills- a team member in felicity team cannot communicate well in
English and other team members are inpatient with him. There is also a lot of conflicts within
showing lack of interpersonal skills.
Quality teams and team processes- Felicity team is ineffective and has no quality team players.
The purpose of a team process is to provide a basic framework that increases the effectiveness
of each member and enable them to participate in problem-solving, planning and decision
making to achieve organizational goals
Decisions on what Felicity should do
1. Felicity should be more decisive and show control in meeting
2. Felicity should plan for the team members and organize them. This is to reduce conflicts
and to create a better communication channels.
3. She should be more aggressive in dictating what each member should do
4. She should also help members who are struggling an example is that she should be
patient with the guy who is not very good in English and encourage him.
5. She should be the leader who encourages team members and encourages them to build
trust.
6. She should be the one to defuse tensions between team members like Susan and
James.
Recommendations and Justifications
As a team, Felicity is the leader. She should take the mantle and guide the team. When she
shows no leadership or controlling and coordinating skills, the team members will have conflicts.
Therefore, Felicity should plan, organize, coordinate and administrate the team for efficiency.
Guiding the team members and offering them enough motivation to stay focused. Example, a
team leader will calm the team members and reconcile them in cases of conflicts (Zincirkiran,
Emhan, and Yasar, 2015).
