Article 1- Arditi, D., Gluch, P. and Holmdahl, M., 2013. Managerial competencies of female
and male managers in the Swedish construction industry. Construction Management and
Economics, 31(9), pp.979-990.
The main aim of the paper is to understand that the managerial competencies of both
female and male workers are equal and they have the capability to work effectively on the
similar tasks. As commented by the authors, the construction industry is mainly male dominated
and there is only 5% of the individuals who are female which showcases the lack of balance and
equality. The quantitative research methodology was undertaken wherein survey was being
done among 143 managers of Swedish construction industry wherein 44 were women. The
findings were the fact that the managerial competencies were judged and the result was that
more than 78% of the competencies match with one another, however still there is inequality
which persists between men and women employees.
The underlying theoretical constructs which have been used are the function-based and
behavior-based competency models for understanding the level of managerial competencies of
both men and women employees. Through the respective models, the knowledge, skills along
with functions and behaviors are being analyzed which is suitable for the management of growth
prospects of women employees. Thus, the main contribution of paper is that both male and
female managers are equally competent in the construction industry. In comparison to the other

The aim of the article is to understand the contributions of the women in the construction
industry. The contribution of women employees are superior than men and the construction
companies are presenting positive measures for women to work in such industry. The
methodology used is quantitative wherein interviews were conducted among female employees
and it was being found that they are treated equal like men and their contributions are much
higher. The companies provided appropriate workplace requirements for women for
development in current workplace environment in construction. From the article, the findings
