Introduction:
To complete the processes of the project management successfully, various types of
tools, knowledge, techniques and skills are important, and these are considered as the
applications of the project management (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017). A typical type of project
management plan includes project initiation, project monitoring, project planning, project
executing and controlling and the last which is the project closing. These techniques are very
much important for the project management plans as this successfully helps to execute the
goals of the projects, managing of the project resources and controlling the project schedule.
The main goal of this essay is to implement these techniques of the project management in
the upcoming prestigious event of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar. In this essay, several
steps which need to be taken by the project manager will be evaluated briefly.
To support the event of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar with the project management
techniques, this essay will describe the processes of the PMBOK which are very much
helpful in the case of the successful stakeholder management (Larson & Gray, 2015). Also,
the critical stakeholders for this event will be identified in this essay. Following the
identification of the stakeholders the concept of the lean project will be applied in the
occasion of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar and for this the ways of implementing the lean
project management will be identified. Basically, in terms of implementing the lean project
management the opportunities and areas where the wastes can be eliminated will be
identified. In the further section of this essay the processes from the Agile Practices,
PRINCE2, Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC Methodology), PMBOK and the Organizational Project
Management will be identified and elaborated which can be used for implementing the lean
project management.

Stakeholder Management and Identification of the Critical Stakeholders:
Processes of the PMBOK for the Stakeholder Management:
For every sort of projects managing the stakeholders is very much important so that
perfect execution of the project is achieved. Thus in the case of the FIFA World Cup 2022
Qatar project event, the management of the stakeholder is also important. For this event to
manage the stakeholders successfully processes from the PMBOK will be used. According to
processes of the PMBOK, the four processes of the effective management of the stakeholder
are the Identification of the Stakeholders, Planning of the Stakeholder Engagement,
Management of the Stakeholder Management and the Monitoring of the Stakeholder
Management.
As per the PMBOK, the first process for the stakeholder management is the
identification of the stakeholders. The PMBOK represents that to identify the stakeholders
the first step is ensuring all the stakeholders of the project is satisfied (Project Management
Institute., 2018). In fact, the identification of the project stakeholders is so much crucial for
the existence of a project that the PMBOK specifies only the stakeholder identification and
the project charter in the process group of the project initiation. Simplifying the above
statements, the indentation of the stakeholders is very much important for a project prior to
the project is being incorporated. A project is always initiated by the project managers with
the identification of the major stakeholder in mind. In the case of the FIFA World Cup 2022
Qatar the identified major stakeholders are the Event organisers, Supply chains, Community,
Participants, Attendees or the Spectators (2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™., 2019) and some
Football related organizations.
Next process of the successful stakeholder management from the PMBOK is the
Planning of stakeholder administration. The planning of the stakeholder administration is

crucial for the stakeholder management as this provides the insight of how the project will
interact with each of its stakeholders (Carroll & Buchholtz, 2014). This process from the
PMBOK for the stakeholder management identifies and analyse two major items of every
involved stakeholder. The first is the level of interest of stakeholders in the project and the
second one is the ability of these stakeholders of controlling the project. The technical
knowledge of the stakeholders is also a major factor in this case as it helps them to engage
with the project in a better way. Also, in this process, all the concerns of the stakeholders are
presented and analysed so that it can ensure that the project is heading towards the success. In
the case of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar event, engagement of the project stakeholder is
very much important for because without some of the major stakeholder’s contribution it is
impossible to conduct the whole event. As an example, if some of the big participating
nations are not engaging with the tournament then the tournament loss some of its attraction.
Thus the overall value of the event will be depleted.
Managing the engagement of the stakeholders is also important for the perfect
management of the stakeholders as per the processes of the PMBOK. In this case, throughout
the whole project, project stakeholders are consulted to ensure that their overall needs are met
(Verleye, Gemmel & Rangarajan, 2014). The interaction with the stakeholders is followed
according to the stakeholder management plan. Also, changes are needed to be done as
necessary. In the event of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar by using the process of the
management of the stakeholders, project management plans can be updated. Also, by using
the process, the project documents can be updated accordingly.
According to the PMBOK last and one of the main important process of the
management, the stakeholders in the monitoring the engagement of the stakeholders. This is
the part of the Controlling and Monitoring process group of the PMBOK. This is a very much
important process of the of the stakeholder management that this process must be executed on

a regular basis throughout the whole project (Andriof et al., 2017). It is important because it
helps the project to determine the overall effectiveness of the stakeholder management plan.
This process can help the stakeholder management by reviewing the communication between
the stakeholders, gathering various information about them and by asking the project
stakeholder how they feel about the project on some of the specific concern. By
implementing the process of the stakeholder monitoring effective stakeholder management
can be gained for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar as this provides work performance
information and provides project document updates.
Identification of the Critical Stakeholder:
Critical stakeholders are very much important for any projects to complete the project
successfully. In the case of the FIFA World Cup, 2022 Qatar critical stakeholders are also

Regulatory bodies This group of regulatory bodies includes the federal and local
authorities who have the power of regulating the aspects of the
material related issues.
Supply Chain The group of the Supply chain includes the organizations and
the companies which will be actively providing services (2022
FIFA World Cup Qatar™., 2019) to the FIFA World Cup
tournament.
Spectators/Attendees These are one of the most important stakeholders of the FIFA
World Cup tournament, and this group includes the individual
supporters who are coming to see the matches of the FIFA
World Cup tournament, ticket holders, fan groups and the
tourism organisations.
Implementation of the Lean Project Management for the tournament:
The concept of the Lean Project Management is very much important for the project
management process as the main concept of this project management technique is the
eliminating the waste from the actual project (Martínez-Jurado & Moyano-Fuentes, 2014).
By eliminating the wastages from the project it actually improves the execution of the
project. The main aim of this type of project is implementing lean concept to the project
management which includes lean thinking, lean manufacturing, and lean construction. In a
typical type of project management process, there are various reasons for which the wastes
are created. The reasons for which the wastes are created are overburden of some of the
processes of manufacturing and the uneven workload. By the elimination of the wastes, the
lean concept actually eliminates almost every aspect of the project which does not provide

any type of value to the actual project. In this case, some of the lean principles are
implemented for waste elimination.
As the main concept of lean implementation is the eliminating the waste this section
of this essay deals with how the wastages can be eliminated from the FIFA World Cup 2022
Qatar tournament. First of all, it is very much important to identify the wastes of this
tournament, and it can be done by the critical analysis. There can be various types of
wastages in the FIFA World Cup 2022 tournament. The first waste can be the stadium itself if

an intensive tournament. Football fans always eagerly wait for this tournament. So, it must be
ensured by the project manager that this tournament is accessible to all and for that, the
project manager must ensure a live broadcasting system for the tournament. The live
broadcasting is important because it is not possible for everyone to visit the stadiums for
enjoying the match (Cheng, 2014). Thus by the implementation of the proper live telecasting
system, the popularity of this tournament can be maintained to its peak form, and from the

live telecasting system this event can also generate a huge amount of money for improvement
in this tournament. Thus by the live telecasting system broadcasting related problems can be
mitigated.
Processes that are applicable to the Lean Project Management:
The main processes that can be implemented for the lean project administration
belong from the Organizational Project Management (OPM), PMBOK, Agile Practices,
PRINCE2 and from the Lean Six Sigma or the DMAIC Methodology. In the following
section of this essay, this process groups will be described briefly.
For implementing the concept of the lean project, the processes of the Organizational
Project Management or the OPM is very much important. The processes of the organizational
project management help in the implementation of lean project management by achieving a
smooth flow of the project management processes (Burke, 2013). By the smooth flow of
project management processes, the whole project can be completed within the estimated
deadline. Thus the implementation of the OPM will help the 2022 FIFA World Cup by
delivering the project within the time frame of mid-2022. Also, the OPM will help in this
event by work efficiency measuring.
One of the most important process group for the implementation of the lean project
management is the PMBOK. This process group actually consists of a total number of 49
processes, but these all processes belong to the five common processes of the PMBOK (Rose,
2013). The PMBOK helps to achieve the lean project management by dividing the projects
into several steps, and these steps are executed by the help of those five common processes of
the PMBOK. In the case of the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar, this is implemented, and this
has divided the project into initiating, executing, planning, monitoring and controlling and the

closing stage. By the division of the whole project, each of the steps has been executed
properly, and lean project management has been achieved.
The Agile Practices can also help in the implementation of the lean project
administration to the FIFA World Cup 2022 event. The main process of the Agile Practice
which helps in the employment of the lean project management is the acceptance criteria-
driven development (Diebold & Dahlem, 2014). By the implementation of the acceptance
criteria-driven development lean project management can be achieved because it helps to
reduce the defect rates in a project effectively. Thus by implementing this on the FIFA World
Cup 2022 event, the quality of the event will be improved.
Again, after the process group of the PMBOK the processes of the PRINCE2 is also
very much important to achieve the concept of the lean project management. The most
important process of the PRINCE2 which helps in the execution of the lean project
controlling is the agile process. The agile process of the PRINCE2 provides great adaptability
to the project management processes with the project environment (Matos & Lopes, 2013).
Thus by this, the lean project management is achieved. Environment adaptability is needed
for the successful completion of the FIFA World Cup 2022 environment. So, the process
from the PRINCE2 is helping the FIFA World Cup 2022 event to achieve the lean project
management.
The most important process of the Lean Six Sigma or the DMAIC methodology is the
process of the problem solving which is extremely important for the application of the lean
project management. The process of the problem solving from the Lean Six Sigma or the
DMAIC methodology is very much significant for achieving the lean project management
because like the PMBOK this also divides whole projects in several of steps and each of these
steps is executed in a proper manner (Drohomeretski et al., 2014). These steps are defined,

measure, analyse, improve and control. All of these steps are capable of solving the project
related problems with the approach of the statistical methods. The approach of the statistical
methods is very much helpful in the determination of the project efficiency and to gain the
project efficiency by taking appropriate steps. In this way, the Lean Six Sigma or the DMAIC
Methodology is able to execute the lean project management for the 2022 FIFA World Cup
Qatar tournament.

Conclusion:
From the above discussion, it is understood that lean project management is very
crucial for the successful achievement of a project and to achieve the utmost efficiency of the

project. The main reason behind the implementation of lean concepts in the process of project
management is eliminating the project related waste from the project. Actually, eliminating
the waste from the project, the execution of the project is improved heavily. Also,
management of the stakeholders is very much important for perfect project management.
Thus in this essay, various processes for effective management of the stakeholders are
discussed. For managing the stakeholders in this essay, the process group of PMBOK has
been chosen, and it has been elaborated in a proper way. In the next part of this essay critical
stakeholders for the project of the FIFA World Cup 2022, Qatar has been identified and
described briefly. As the main focus of this essay was on employing the lean project concept
for the FIFA World Cup 2022 event concept of the lean project management has been
described successfully in this essay. Also, how this concept of the lean project administration
can help the upcoming FIFA World Cup event in the year, 2022 is discussed briefly. How the
stadiums and the match telecasting system can be managed is elaborated properly in this
essay. In the next following section various of processes from the Organizational Project
Management (OPM), PMBOK, Agile Practices, PRINCE2 and from the Lean Six Sigma or
the DMAIC Methodology has been identified and described briefly which are important for
the implementation of the lean project management. All of these methods are the contribution
to the implementation of the lean project management by some of their processes which are
assessed in this essay. From the essay, it has been learned that one of the main process group
for implementing lean project management is the PMBOK process group.
