EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of this project is implementation of file replication server for Lightning Software
Solutions Company. The company is Australia based which are provided mobile and web
based software applications for the smaller and medium business organization. The current
position of the organization is such that it faces issues of data losses and data errors. Due to
this reason, the business faces ineffective operations, higher increase in operational cost
plus unsecured storage of data. Therefore, the company decided to spend both their time as
well as money on implementation of the data recovery solution. Using the proposed solution,
the company ensures that there is proper storage of data and there are low chances of data
losses.The end result of proposed solution is that there is prevention of data losses and
providing easier maintenance of data of the business. The business gains advantage by its
new system is that it makes improvement over customer satisfaction level by providing them
safe and secured information.

Project Background and Justification
Lightning Software Solutions (LSS) is an Australian software company which provides
mobile as well as web-based software applications for small to medium scale businesses.
LSS was founded by Jason Reigns in 2000. It is noted that LSS largely focus on providing its
services online, which it aims to use less paper and hence most of their data is stored in the
cloud. In 2016, they have received awards for teamwork performance, cost savings features,
efficiency and strong process improvements. Since most of its work is based on the cloud, it
deals with lot of data.
This organization is facing problems within the network as there is an increase in loss of data
and due to this LSS spends most of their time and money on data recovery. This makes the
business very inefficient as there is lot of time wasted and high number of costs and there is
no mechanism in place to make sure the data is stored securely and that there’s minimum
chance for data loss.
Moreover, loss of data is an error circumstance which can lead to complete destruction of
important information. This could be caused due to many numbers of reasons, which
includes accidental deletion of files, mechanical damages in the hard drives and many
numbers of unavoidable human errors. Hence, this project will focus on implementing a
solution for this issue and minimize the risk of data loss.
Key Business Objectives
The objective of this project is to help LSS improve their operational efficiency by minimizing
the risk of data loss and maintaining the integrity of data. This will help LSS cut down costs
invested on recovering data and hence improve the overall stability of the business. Hence,
the key objectives are,
 Prevent loss of data and provide easy maintenance
 Cut down resources spent of data recovery
 Provide a system where information is stored securely
 Improve customer satisfaction by ensuring their information is kept safe.
Project Scope
Inclusions
Following are list of the in-scope items:
 File replication server is used to prevent data losses and easier maintenance
 At the time of developing the system, data security is a feature included.
 Developing of VPN technology to build encrypted connections leads to reduce data
losses and errors
 Providing disaster recovery solutions as backup service to protect data application
from disaster
 Installation along with configuration of site recovery manager server and database
into data centres (Maliket al. 2016).
 Installation of storage replication adapter for storage based on site recovery manager
server

 Storage of data in server computers and administrator can update data
The project will use the file replication server for distributing the shared files and policy
objects of the business organization. The services are used for replication of files as well as
synchronize data of domain controllers. It is used to keep data secured on various servers.
The process of synchronization is quicker and completed. The file replication service can fit
with the system requirements as it can backup data on various servers at the time of
replicating them (Acosta, Espinosaand Espinosa 2019). The sync services are faster while it
can change policies directly cause change in client’s data.
Exclusions
Following are list of the out of scope items:
 Installation as well as configuration of the third-party applications, operating system
for deployment of virtual machines
 Training to the employees and customers to provide technical knowledge
 Protection of the physical machines
The configuration from server where the application is being initiated will overwrite
configuration on remote computer for the scope and failover of relations. The employees and
customers those have lack of knowledge on using the system will require to provide training
so that they can handle technical work. The project will not include installation and
configuration of third party applications for deploying the virtual machines. There is also
installation and configuration of VMware products which are not mentioned earlier in the
project documents. There is protection of physical machines so that the data transfer should
be secured and safe (Mollahoseiniet al. 2018). For the business organization, there is design
of storage based replication solutions.

Project Methodology
Scrum methodology is used as the agile method which is used for the software
development. Based on this project plan, this method is most suitable when compared to
other methods. Using this system, LSS will benefits the following while using file replication
server:
a. Higher productivity
b. Improvement over the satisfaction rate of the stakeholders
c. Better dynamics of the employees
d. Better quality of the products
e. Improvement over data losses lead to complete transfer of data efficiently
f. Increase in operational efficiency by reduction of risk of data losses
g. Maintenance of data integrity
Scrum methodology addressed complexity in project work by creating the information
transparent such that people inspect as well as adapt focused on current conditions. There
is frequent inspection of the project progress as well as detect project variances such that
adjustments are done efficiently (Naz, Khan and Aamir 2016). The common phases of scrum
methodology are initiation, planning, execution, implementation, review, release and closure.
The owner of this project is compiled with the product backlog such as project requirements
as well as listed the project priorities. Daily sprint meetings are conducted to track project
progress as well as guide the project team for completion of each project sprints. Completion
of each project sprints can result in project deliverables. The process is being continued until
the project team worked throughout entire product backlog and depleted the project budget
plus deadline ends the plan. The delivered system should reduce the time for marketing and
result in higher project revenue (Hernández, Kreyeand Eppinger 2019). While completed
product backlog can represent release of products. Involvement of the project owner can
facilitate project management processes.
This selected project methodology should lead to higher satisfaction of customers and
employee. The customers are satisfied due to getting effective file replication solution; the
customers are involved to provide feedback plus inputs in product development processes.
The employees are satisfied due to engaged in effort as they are engaged to get
accountability for employment as division of authorized team (Kerzner 2017). The proposed
solution lead to reduce operational cost due to reduction of needless project documentation
and project control needs.
