This project delves into the financial analysis of four prominent companies listed on the London FTSE 100 index: Royal Dutch Shell, HSBC Holdings, GlaxoSmithKline, and British American Tobacco. The analysis spans the period from September 30, 2019, to February 3, 2020, examining their share price fluctuations. The project includes the calculation of variances for each company and correlation coefficients for all possible company pairs to understand the relationships between their share price movements. The methodology employs moving averages, trend lines, and descriptive statistics to forecast share prices and assess the companies' financial performance. The study also considers the companies' strategies and market positions, particularly in the context of the FTSE 100 index and global economic factors. The project aims to provide insights into share price dynamics and portfolio selection within the financial market.
