INTRODUCTION
The writing is about business information systems and its processes that are indeed the
powerful techniques that can be utilised by the firms of digital era. There are various appropriate
techniques available related to such aspects that are useful if handled carefully to organize the
business processes. In this brief about the mentioned topic, three tasks are to be done that will
analyse various advantageous and disadvantageous factors that are to be considered while
carrying out the activities. Task one will have two parts, one will have information about the
processes of business operations and second part will be of presentation about the same. Task
two and three will comprise factors that improve business performance and the emerging trends
in the sector respectively.
MAIN BODY
Task 1 Business Information Systems and processes:
What is six sigma? An overview of Motorola case study:
Any business entity strives to achieve the overall business objectives that can allow them to
attain the desired success rates Hetrick, R., McDonald, B., & Park, J. (2021). For this, there
has to be a full proof evidence that the customers are being satisfied with the activities and
that the firm is reliable of its activities. Six Sigma is the exact methodology that can enable a
business firm to ensure excellency in its business operations with the help of its framed
principles and mechanisms. These enjoy a spike in their accessibility rates as many business
firms have decided to opt for these activities to achieve success. (contd. In ppt)
Benefits of six sigma:
1. The approach of six sigma helps in the analysation of lacking areas that are the reason
behind each and every loss incurred. With this the activities are being improved by the
firm and thus, results in customer satisfaction rates and loyalty aspects.
2. Reduction in waste materials is the main motive of such methodologies that is known for
its data driven technical approaches in eradicating wasteful activities. It identifies which
all can be the improving aspects that can result in the optimum utilisation of available
resources.

3. Effectively managing time is an advantage provided by the six sigma analysis, that results
in efficient business performance and balances work life of the people. With this, the
lower level management can also work by getting motivated from the top tiers in
contributing in goals and objectives.
Disadvantages:
1. The methodologies of six sigma only focus on the quality of the produced items and can
cross any limits to evaluate the success rates. This can result in an increase in the cost of
production and can lead to financial instability.
2. For the production and delivering of resources and services mentored, it demands a high
rate of production along with the high and advanced technologies in turn. Moreover,
there will also be a need of recruiting more talents that require a large investment.
3. There are even confronted real time barriers as the process is a time consuming one. This
then becomes hard to predict that will it be as efficient as the resources invested or not
and makes it difficult to form suitable strategies Trubetskaya, A., & Mullers, H. (2021).
The six sigma process of business transformation:
The methodologies of six sigma are unpredictable in nature which means that it might
either avail success or might be the reason behind someone’s losses. However, it can even be
said that the logic behind such activities have to be understood in order to improve the quality of
manufacturing processes. The process of business transformation is defining the business
problems and relating it to the goals. Measuring problems with available performance rates
and statistics to evaluate the outcomes, then comes analysing was the process efficient enough
to carry on with or not. At last, it can be improved with the help of discovering possible
relationships among established variables that are suitable for the business performance
Viriyasitavat, W., & Hoonsopon, D. (2019)..
Recommendations:
In the case of Motorola case study, it can be measured that the firm maintained high
efficiency while adopting to such innovative aspects by eliminating waste activities to minimise
variation in its overall business operational activities. Therefore, it can be evaluated that the
techniques are always tricky in the business environment because of risky nature and there is a

need of proper research and evaluation of business needs and goals Ershadi, M., and et.al.,
(2020).
Task 2 Business Process and Lean Operations:
Describing the selected business process in its current situation:
The selected business process is being taken from a retail brand Tesco, that tend to operate
in the global market with its various operations processes. To be specific, the food and
retail industry is said to be the largest in the UK industry that is said to provide
employment at its best. Currently the business operations are said to be the highest in
ranking, but is also lacking behind in the case of profit maximisation. Also the selected
business process that is the technological operations operate on low pricing strategy and
relies heavily on the promotional aspects to attract customers. It is also indicated that Tesco
and its business process is facing low quality in the products and services that are the most
important aspects of the retailing sector. However, the brand is continuously focusing on
employee training and development programmes to contribute towards the strategic
development of the overall business processes and activities of the firm Shad, M. Kand et.al,
(2019)..

Modelling the current business process using the graphical tools:
The above process flowchart is giving a serious and clear evaluation of the current business
process that is the technological department. It is being shown that how and what all problems
the business process is facing in terms of low level of business and technical strategies along
with the pricing policies. Further, solutions regarding the problems have been identified that
how effectively the business process can be transformed into a new and efficient aspect of a
business firm. This can facilitate the payment made to several modes of the technical department
and can also result in the integration of all the activities that are related to the technical
department Ahmed. Ahmad. & Othman. (2019).. All the above mentioned activities in the
flowchart are directed towards the same common goal of satisfying the customers of retail
business sector whose main ideology is to maximise the profit rates by carrying out the business
activities. In order to achieve the global satisfaction rates, then it is mandatory to apply the
digital and innovative techniques that will attract more potential audience.

Critically discussing the aspects of the selected business processes that are inefficient and needs
improvement:
The selected business process is the technological department that mainly deals with the
new and innovative techniques to provide solutions that can respond to the customers’
needs and wants. Tesco’s competitive advantage and position is dependent on managing
technological risks and research and development aspects of the technical department.
These two aspects are currently facing a lot of criticism due to the malfunctioning of a
variety of products and services produced through these Aydiner. and et.al., (2019).. There
is also a need of installing and launching capital investment techniques that will guide the
management operations in dealing with the change that is required to satisfy the needs and
demands of the customers. The production capacity of the business process is continuously
reducing resulting in the low quality of activities provided by the firm. Tesco needs to
understand the need of adopting modern era techniques and various methods that can
safeguard the implementing of technological aspects efficiently to achieve the customer
satisfaction rates.
Proposing a new business process model and justifying how the business process is improved by
applying Business Process Improvement (BPI) technique:
The technique of BPI helps the business analysts to identify and analyse the business areas
that require improvement, accuracy and efficiency rates in order to achieve the overall
business objectives. These are basically making changes and amendments in the overall
business process to meet the requirements that are essential in the nature of business
environment Anderson. & Bidwell. (2019).. The selected business process is the
marketing department that is necessary to carry out any business opportunity.

the help of tools and techniques:

performed during a certain time period to measure the revenue techniques. For the current
and new business processes it is important to analyse which all techniques will be of
beneficial nature and what all improvements it demand to achieve the overall business

the attainment of reasonable pricing levels. Pricing levels are a prominent factor in these aspects
because they help in maintaining the financial stability of the business.

affects the relationship between the business and its customers. That is why the whole business
process performance analysis is dependent on the activities that are carried out in order to
achieve the overall business goals Dutta. and et.al., (2020)..
