Report
AI Summary
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of fitness testing, focusing on the evaluation of Jackie's performance in various fitness tests. It begins with a discussion of test selection, highlighting the importance of choosing tests that align with the specific demands of the activity. The report details the preparation and administration of the tests, emphasizing the need for trained testers and participant safety. The chosen tests include the T-test, vertical jump, 40-yard sprint, push-ups, and a 12-minute run. The results are presented in a table comparing Jackie's scores from Week 1 and Week 12 with normative data for competitive college athletes. The evaluation assesses Jackie's progress, highlighting areas of improvement and areas needing further attention. Factors influencing the validity and reliability of the results are also discussed, along with the importance of adhering to testing protocols. The report concludes with a list of relevant journal and book references.

TASK 1
Test selection, Preparation, Administration
The categorization of fitness test is being done for the the purpose of measuring particular
component of fitness. It is being designed for measuring specific component of fitness. It is
devised for performers in varied sports and fitness activities (Cale and Harris, 2009). In case of
Jackie it is important that tests selection matches with the particular demands of the activity in
which the person participates. Selection of most specific test would assist in ensuring the validity
of test. The tests includes field based tests that are practical to do. For Jackie's fitness test
outdoor test were carried out that reflects field tests (Pyne and et.al., 2005). Other factors
including age and sex can be relevant in case components like maximal strength are being tested.
However such depends on status of training of the one engaged. Another kind of test is
laboratory based tests that offer higher level of validity and reliability as the variables affecting
can be controlled under particular testing conditions. For Jackie indoor test have also been
carried out.
After test selection next stage is administration so that validity can be ensured. There are
two essential factors that has to be taken into account. This includes that tester needs to be
trained enough to carry out tests in effective manner (Drinkwater, Pyne and McKenna, 2008).
Secondly the participants needs to be prepared for performing the tests in safe manner. There are
several health and safety considerations like individual's health status which makes sure
appropriate warm up and cool down are carried out, suitable clothing as well as footwear and
appropriate testing environment as well as conditions. The fitness test that can be chosen are as
such:
T-test
Vertical jump
40 yd sprint (37 m)
Push ups (number in 2 minutes)
12-minute run (kilometers covered)
Such sequence is suitable as it begins with higher skill movements that can be reliably
carried out without fatigue. Tests with higher level of fatigue are sequenced in the end so as to
avoid impact on the performance of other tests (Harris and Cale, 2006).

Evaluation of fitness test scores
Table 1: Jackie's fitness test scores

The table above reflects the test scores that is being achieved by Jackie in test carried out
recently and normative data with which comparison of Jackie's performance would be carried
out. Her scores of tests are being demonstrated for two testing sessions that is comprised of
Week 1 and Week 12. Week 1 tests were conducted for assessing her fitness level and offer
information regarding the development of fitness training programme. Further week 12 tests
were conducted at the end of 12 week training period. The two sets of tests were undertaken by
varied testers.
Jackie is country level player of hockey aged 21 who is making transition from playing in
youth teams to senior teams. The evaluation of the test results has been carried out in the manner
below:
Considering Jackie's week 12 and week 1 outcomes and comparing it with Competitive
college athletes (Women) it can be viewed that Jackie's T test score is 11.3s which requires
improvement as the normative data score is 10.8s. Thus the score is much higher. Though
progress has been made in terms of results in Week 1 and Week 12 data that is earlier it was
11.8s and later 11.3s. This reflects slight improvement in the performance by Jackie. In addition
to this her vertical jump score is 44 cm which is in the middle of the range of Competitive
college athletes (Women) 41-47cm. This reflects improvement from week 1 outcomes that was
41 cm. Jackie has come out well in 40 yard sprint test along with the score of 5.78s. This is
towards the top end of Competitive college athletes (Women) (5.5-5.96 seconds). In addition to

this her push up test score 27 is ranked towards the top of very good category (29-22). Jackie's
score in 12 minutes run (kilometers covered) was 2.18 km. Though progress has been made
under this as compared to Week 1 results that is 2.08 km. But still more improvements are
required to reach score of Competitive college athletes (Women) that is 2.478 km.
The validity as well as reliability of results can be influenced by several factors. For
instance Jackie's coach might not be adhered strictly towards testing protocols, the can be
unfavorable environment or Jackie might be feeling tired or unmotivated. There could be various
subtle differences in the test administration among the two training session. This can be tester
experience, environmental conditions or the time of day. The more such deviations can be
reduced the more valid and reliable the results of test would be in future course of time.
