Introduction
The respective proposal that was provided to the City port of Adelaide City Council was the
planning of execution of clothing thrift market, which has been named as flea attire. The
respective clothing thrift market is considered to be a platform for amalgamation of different
culture and ethnicity, apart from other philanthropic connections and events that the respective
event might bring in. The respective report is an argument to the City port of Adelaide City
Council which strongly advocates in favor of the event flea attire and why such event should be
supported, approved and encouraged by the city council. The report provides a brief description
of the event and the activities associated with it, providing a clear insight about the positive
factors that the event is associated with and can contribute to in the near future.
Discussion
The City port of Adelaide Enfield Council is esteemed as one of the largest councils which is
situated in the north- western sub-urban area of Adelaide (Schutt, 2017). It offers myriads of
recreational areas, parks, beaches and historical infrastructures around the city. It has been
deemed as one of the most celebrated tourist spots in Australia and one of the famous places of
hang- out of the local Australians as well.
The City port of Adelaide Enfield Council possesses and manages eleven halls for hire to use as
a community activity space, meetings or for social functions. The organizing body that must be
willing to execute any event in the land premises of the Council must be holding a current public
liability insurance policy of at least $10 million or more coverage. An event coordinator and an
event support officer. The respective designated officers deliver yearly calendar of council

events, oversee the event sponsorship and grant program rounds and permit other events
happening on Council held land.
The event of Flea attire is a clothing thrift market that is to be planned by the council to be
executed. A clothing thrift market can be defined as a market of donated items or goods sold at
consignments. A clothing thrift market generally accepts the donated items provided by different
people from different parts of the country. Generally, the money raised for the thrift shops are
likely to be used for the funds of certain non- governmental organizations or non- profit
organizations, usually, charitable organizations (Sussman, Sharma & Alter, 2015). Many thrift
stores have receiving areas specifically to collect and hold new donations. Generally, the prices
for the resale commodities and products are typically lowest because of the donated goods. A
collaborative and cooperative effort would have been planned to be exhibited by the community
members to make the event a reality. The sole intention and purpose of the event would be
contributing the earned amount to the underprivileged communities who are detached from
educational and career opportunities in their life. The event shall also be operated with another
motive, which is encouraging and adopting a minimalistic lifestyle. A minimalistic lifestyle is a
typical lifestyle that believes in simple way of clothing and keeping all other interests simple
(Pollak, 2016). The event encourages such ideology to induce the ideology of simple living and
high thinking among the masses of the city so that they can be taken out from the overindulgent
materialistic lifestyle (Sasaki, 2017). The event is to be accompanied by complementary outdoor
activities such as games, group activities and food festival. The locals will be heading the food
festivals showcasing their local delicacies and cultural heritage. The theme of the event has been
decided to be “vintage” and the collection of the commodities would be based on the theme. The
amount received and collected would be directed towards the contribution plan of the

community. 50% of the amount received from the event will be acquired for the local
participants and another half of the amount would be directed towards growth and development
of the local communities that need an utmost help.

The organizers of the event are declaring proudly to the council that the event of thrift clothing
has all the chances and opportunities to grow, develop and be successful. The event is prolific
and is needed to be supported and encouraged by the council. The reasons for the credibility of
the event are provided in this section hereafter.
1. Engagement of the community members in community activities and group activities,
thereby, providing a friendly and amicable environment for the members to grow
together and be with each other which might help in enhancing their relationships.
2. The event is a righteous act that would benefit the marginalized sections of the Australian
society by helping them in pursuing their career and educational opportunities.
3. The event would be funded by charitable trusts of the city. A myriads of charitable
foundations, charitable trusts and non-governmental organizations are supposed to be
participating in the event. Therefore, there is an opportunity for their amalgamation and
intermingling with each other for determining future prospects.
4. There will be a social interaction between different communities. Social interactions
between different communities often lead to a positive intermingling and amalgamation
between the communities (Bales, 2017). Social interactions are always appreciated and
encouraged in a society because it increases flexibility and liberal temperament among
the communities (Sarason, 2013).
5. The most unique purpose of the event is to encourage and uphold minimalistic lifestyle
among the masses. Minimalistic lifestyle can be defined as a typical kind of lifestyle

which is inherently simple and does not involve anything which is garrulous. Since the
contemporary Australian society has become overindulgent in materialistic desires and
pursuits, the organizers have planned for instilling a subtle reminder of simple living and
high thinking with the help of the event. Through the event, the organizers would be
happily encouraging people to leave their fustian behavior and enter into a minimalistic
yet peaceful and happy lifestyle.
Therefore, to summarize the points provided above, it is again echoed from the organizers to the
council members to whole heartedly support the event and cooperate with the organizers to make
the event a reality.
The organizers have been seeking:
1. Financial support where they have been expecting help and assistance from the council in
terms of financial and other resources, even though minimal.
2. Logistics support
3. Human resources providence and assistance
4. First aid and health care support in case of any emergencies
5. Refreshment assistance such as drinking water, juices and other arrangements.
