INTRODUCTION
In the UK, the occupational health deals with the various aspects of the health and safety in
the workplace. According to World Health Organization (WHO), the primary function of the
health and social care organisation is to ensure their employees that the health prevention
from the hazards can be practised. It has been aforesaid that "Health is the state where
complete mental, physical and social well-being of an individual is examined”. It is merely
undertaken in the absence of disease or infirmity”.
There are some concern areas to which the organization actions are dependend. This has
ranged with the maintenance and promotion of worker’s (Hancock, 2015). The case of the
Fleetwood Hill home care has been carried out in the assessment in order to present the
review of the legislation, policies and procedures for spreading information. This can help
in understanding the risk assessment and policies on health and social care system.
The aim of the assignment is to present the knowledge of the health and safety practices in
social care organization. The effect of the policies and procedures which are relative to the

reports to injuries of the patients. With the help of RIDDOR, the regulations are made on
the premises in order to control the specified workplace incident. This can also help in
preventing the dangerous occurrences and diseases. It is necessary to continue the
regulatory practices (Loeppke, et al. 2015). The prevalence of the RIDDOR reports alert
enforcing authorities help them to investigate serious incidents. The activities that help in
maintaining the specified dangerous occurrences at Fleetwood Hall Homecare. The CQC
noticed under the dangerous occurrences in 2013 that there were some severe incidents
that took place at the Fleetwood which were not safeguarded with the effective concern for
implementing RIDDOR.
Other than this, COSHH stands for Control of substances hazardous to health regulations.
This regulation has presented many controlled substances with cleaning the locality area
where the patient is being resident. The Fleetwood care home people are unaware of the
dangerous substances. This can direct towards the cleaning substances, harm and spray
through which the needs to be kept locked in the stored places (Gilbert, 2015).
Verbal communication can also help in directing the communication with the exchange
program which helps in promptness of the talking to the service users. The role of

exchanging ideas and maintaining a healthy environment in the organization can be
configured with the help of the verbal communication.
On the other hand, written communication directs the people’s complaints towards the
Fleetwood. This involves any kind of the message such as – through letters, post in
complaint boxes and through e-mails. Thus, this means of communication can help in
managing the activities of the Fleetwood.

running smoothly in the organization. It also requires regular improvement of the services.
Employers at the Fleetwood are access to the duties of training the staff and making them
update with their regular duties. They are also responsible for managing the risk
assessment activities of equipment. In Fleetwood, Hall staff did not have the adequate
training in handling the equipment and cleaning of the chemicals which can mark difficulty
for the organization.
Employees are responsible to gain the responsiveness of the training provided to them
and keep their knowledge about the organization activities updated from time-to-time.
This can help them in managing their work. However, the Fleetwood has always limited
their training to the employees which depletes to the function of the organization (Reese,

2015). Thus, it is necessary to provide adequate training to the staff and must ensure the
health and safety of the organization to be effectively maintained.

1.3 Analyse the health and safety priorities for the service chosen
A priority in the health and safety is the effective feature through which the observation of
the services can be transfigured (Nordlöf, et al. 2017). There are certain legislations which
help the Fleetwood to maintain the priorities of their business. The legislation like RIDDOR,
Fire Precautions, COSHH and First Aid. This report on the incidents which are associated
with managing the organisation with the detected staff needs for training. The Mental
Health of the patient result in the risk assessment needs of the organization. Therefore, it is

business with so much money as compensation can be given to the people in case of any

associated with the patients from getting injured. The members can help in the hoist,
transferring boards and sling. Thus, this enables safe transfer and hurting yourself with the
service users. The major disadvantage of the service is that they require to save money
while handling the equipment’s (Crawford, et al. 2017).
The users must also keep a check on the hoist and sling with the right to avoid accidents. In
case of the Fleetwood hall home, one lady felt from the sling as it was slightly big in size to
track her. This accident leads to the safeguarding and penalties to the staff and
organisation. Thus, it is necessary for Fleetwood hall to administer their manual handling
to overcome such incidents. The height to maintain professionalism is required.

(Crawford, et al. 2017). It also helps in assessing the need for the precautions that are to be
taken. Further, reduction in the risk of the incidents that can take place at Fleetwood hall
can be recorded. Risk assessment is a legal requirement of health and safety organization.
It is essential to ensure the employees and patients with the reasonable risk under the Act,
Health and Safety at work Act 1974. This can also vary the risk of practices such as
wheelchair parking in the corridor, splitting of the water on the floor without signage.
Thus, it indicates the stages of risk assessment in the Fleetwood hall home.
