CE 1.2.2 Objectives developed for the project
The design and fabrication of project of three directional flexible drilling machine has
some of the major and significant objectives. The objectives developed for this particular project
are as follows:

CE 1.2.3 My area of work
I was a member of the project team of three directional flexible drilling machine. I made
sure that the project was successful. I had worked under the supervision of my team leader and
head of the department. My team leader distributed the entire work amongst us equally. At first, I
had few doubts for the project. However, under the supervision of the head of the department and
team leader, all my doubts were cleared and I understood the entire project perfectly. This
project helped me to understand the concept of drilling machine completely and easily. I have
utilized my mechanical engineering skills and knowledge for the successful completion of the
project.

I had undertaken significant research on the project study. I had implemented the project
design and fabrication n of the three directional flexible drilling machine. Then, I had checked
the processes that are needed for this particular project work. I had customized, tested, assessed
as well as again tested these particular products. My major responsibility was the writing part of
the project reports and also documenting the most important data into the report. I had even
interpreted and analyzed the project data for designing and fabricating of the main project. My
involvement in the project was from designing until the completion of the work. I made sure that
the project study was done perfectly.

CE 1.3.1 Comprehending the Theory of the Project

drill. This particular machine that is utilized for drilling is called drilling machine. This operation
of drilling can even be accomplished in lathe machine, within which the specific drill is held in
the tail stock and the entire work is clutched by the chuck. The most significant and common
drill that is utilized was the twisted drill. It is the most accurate and the simplest machine that is
usually utilized in the production shop. This work piece is kept stagnant, which is clamped in a
significant position and the drill revolves for making a hole. The tip of the drill, and sometimes
the edges of the drill, of the cutting tool completes the task of cutting an object into that
particular material. This cutting can be either slicing off the thin shavings or the grinding off all
the smaller particles removing and crushing the pieces of the particular work piece, counter
boring, countersinking or any other operations.
CE 1.3.2 Engineering knowledge and skills applied in the project
The main short coming that I had was the problem solving skills. Most of the time, I was
unable to solve the situational problems occurred during the design and fabrication. However, I
was successful in utilizing my mechanical engineering skills and knowledge and solved those
problems. Moreover, my ability for critical thinking was the major benefit for the project. I was
able to think out of the box and design and document the project study easily.
CE 1.3.3 Identified issues and their solutions
1.3.3.1 Issues
There were various mechanical faults or problems in the design and fabrication of the 3
directional flexible drilling machine. These problems were stopping the machine to be
successful. The main problem that was occurring was during the design of the drill bit. This is
the most important part of the entire project. If the drill bit of a drilling machine will break, the

entire machine will not work and the user will not be able to use the machine. The second
problem that occurred was the wrong selection of the equipments. The team member, who was
responsible for the perfect selection of the equipments, made a completely wrong list and the
entire project was at stake. The third problem occurred while designing the point angle of the
drill bit. The point angle has to be of a certain perfect degree. However, there was a problem in
the designing part and the point angle was not designed properly. The last problem occurred in
the designing part of vertical arm of the three directional flexible drilling machine.
1.3.3.2 Solutions
I was able to solve all the problems of the project with my skills of mechanical
engineering and critical thinking. The first problem was with drill bit. I gave the idea to my
supervisor for utilizing twisted drills. This reduces the complexities of the designing of the drill
bit and the drill bit does not get broken easily. The second problem was the proper selection of
the equipments. I made sure that the entire list was made again and it does not create any further
problem. This helped to reduce the problems of the project easily. The third problem with the
project was damaged point angle. I had the knowledge of core mechanical engineering. I utilized
my skills in solving this problem. I re designed the part of the drill bit and thus the problem of
the point angle was solved. The last problem of vertical arm took a little bit time longer than the
rest. However, I took help from my team leader and solved it properly.
CE 1.3.4 Plan to produce creative and innovative work
We made a plan to produce creative and innovative work by simply applying mechanical
skills and knowledge. The radial, vertical and horizontal arm movement of the drilling head

enables locating the drill spindle at any point within a very large space required by large and odd
shaped jobs. This was our plan.
CE 1.3.5 Collaborative work
The entire project was conducted through a series of collaborative activities among the
rest of the team mates and me. I assisted my team leader with my fellow team mates in the
project right from the designing part. I was responsible for the documentation and recording of
the project reports. Everything was under the control of the head of the department.

given introductions on the project to the project supervisor.
