Executive Summary
This report focuses on the passenger's announcement process within the flight. However, during
the take-off, landing and safety demonstration the special announcement is taken. Therefore, in
the context of the emergency situation as for example, in severe turbulence special type of
announcement are taken to ensure the safety of the passengers. However, effective
communication is required to make the announcement. It is important for the cabin crew to make
low and clear voice while making any announcement. For the flight journey, an announcement
increases the awareness among the passengers and makes them safe during their journey.

Introduction
Passenger announcement in flight is an essential part as it will ensure the safety of the
passengers and the activities of the flight during the take-off and landing of the flight. However,
it is important to make an effective communication with the passengers on a flight. Different
types of communication techniques are used in the passenger’s announcement1. Communication
is one and only media to understand the needs of the passengers and the instruction of the flight
during the transportation. Thus, it is crucial to make an effective communication with the
passengers through an announcement during the flight.
Task 1
1.1 Description of the communication techniques for the passenger’s announcements
Effective communication is required for the passenger’s announcement. In the context of
aviation industry it is important to make a good an effective way to communicate with the
passengers. One of the major techniques of passenger’s announcement in the flight is use of clear
voice. During the flight transportation the cabin crew needs to speak clearly and announce the
important information to the passengers regarding their journey2. Use of a clear voice is effective
for the passenger’s announcement as it helps the passengers to understand the information
clearly. On the other hand, announcement should be done by using national and international
language based on the country from where the flight takes-off and where the flight lands. Use of
calm voice is another communication technique that is applied for the passenger’s announcement

in flight. The cabin crew needs to calm their voice while giving information to the passengers via
announcement3. This helps the passengers to understand the language of the cabin crew and the
feel free to approach the cabin crew staffs for any query.
1.2 Identification of the methods that are used for the passenger’s announcement in
different situations
Different techniques have made during the journey of the flight to communicate with the
passengers at different situations. As for example, before the closure of the door the cabin crew
makes an announcement with polite and clear voice and alerts the passengers. Therefore, before
the take-off the flight the cabin crew makes an announcement. On the other hand, safety
assurance is given to the passengers through the announcement. During the safety demonstration
the cabin crew gives necessary information to the passengers that they have to follow during
their journey4. Before the landing of the flight another announcement is made. During the
journey in case of bad weather or during any critical situation the flight needs to take more time
for its landing. Hence, this often makes the passengers worried. Members of cabin crew use
supportive announcement for the passengers by using low and calm voice. They use positive
attitudes in their announcement to keep the passengers calm. They give their all effort to make
the passengers comfortable through their effective announcement in this critical situation.
1.3 Description of the passenger announcement, which are used in the normal flight
Different types of passenger’s announcement are taken place during a flight journey. As
for example, a welcome on board announcement is applied when the passengers are going to
board in the flight. After completion of the journey when the flight is ready for landing then the

cabin crew makes an announcement for the passengers and inform them that they are reached to
their destination and t buckle themselves in5. During the landing the cabin crew informs the
passengers to fasten their seat belt as they have to land. After take-off safety demonstration is
required and this is announced by the cabin crew. Some flights make this safety demonstration
through announcement and some flight show it via video. Such types of announcements are
made during the journey of a normal flight. Apart from this besides the safety information the
cabin crew makes announcement for food like drinks, meal and snacks for the passengers.
1.4 Passengers announcement that are used in the emergency situations
Special announcement needs for the emergency situation to ensure the safety of the
passengers during the journey of the flight6. Passenger's announcement is required for the
medical person while boarding on the flight. However, if any accident occurs and the passengers
feel sick and require help from doctor, nurse or midwife then the cabin crew staffs can help such
passengers. For this reason emergency safety demonstration is done through the announcement.
Such announcement in emergency situation controls the crowd. On the other hand, severe
turbulence announcement is another announcement that is made by the cabin crew during the
journey of flight. Such announcement informs the passengers about the critical situation of the
flight and gives necessary instruction to the passengers to keep safety when the flight is out of
control.

2.1 Passenger's announcement that is used in normal flight
During the journey of a normal flight different types of passenger’s announcements are
taken places that are mentioned below:
At the time of boarding
Mr. X (Cabin Crew member)
“Ladies and gentlemen please put your luggage under the seat or an overhead bin. The
captain has fastened the seat belt if you have not done yet kindly take your seat and fasten your
seat belt. If you are seated next to an emergency door kindly read the special information
carefully, this is present behind your seat. For your kind information smoking is completely
prohibited within the flight and the smoke detector will be prohibited by the concerned law”.
Safety demonstration
“Ladies and gentlemen kindly fasten your seat belt. To fasten your seat belt insert the
metal fittings one into another to make it tight” To release the seat belt lift the upper section of
the belt. We are highly recommending you to keep your seat belt tight trough out the flight as we
may face the zone of turbulence”
“There are several emergency gates if we need to come out from the flight during any
emergency you can use the nearest emergency door, which is equipped with an inflatable slide”

"Kindly pay your attention during any type of decompression an oxygen mask will
automatically come in front of you. Put the mask on covering your nose and mouth and take
breathe normally".
At the time of take-off
“Flight attendances kindly pay your attention the flight is ready to take-off. Members of
cabin crew are requested to take their seats for the take-off”.
Landing
“Ladies and gentlemen we have reached our destination please remain seated until the
captain turns off the seat belt. You can use your cellular devices during this time. On the behalf
of the entire crew, I would like to thank you for joining us".
2.2 Passenger’s announcements that are used emergency situation
Special announcement during the severe turbulence
“Flight attendances and cabin crew kindly pay your attention. Please be seated. Flight
attendances the captain has turned on his fasten seat belt as we are now going to cross a
turbulence zone. Please do not leave your seat and fasten your seat belt to keep your safety.
Thank you”
Special announcement for a passenger who has not reached to flight yet
“Mr. Y kindly come to the flight as the flight has only 15 minutes to take-off. Kindly
come sharp and take your seat as 15 minutes remain for the take-off".

Conclusion
The entire piece of work reveals the various types of announcements for the flight journey. It
has been found that there are announcements regarding the take-off, safety demonstration, and
landing, which are considered as the passenger's announcement in normal flight. On the other
hand, special announcement takes place during the emergency situation. An effective
communication can be done by using polite and calm voice during the flight journey.
