Family Nurse Practitioner
Evidence-based practice has a significant place in nursing practice. The literature on
multiple databases provides massive information for best practices to reduce the chances of
error. Similarly, family nursing is a critical domain and requires the special attention of
nurses. For a family nurse practitioner, it is important to keep themselves updated with the
latest trends in family care oriented literature. Although multiple databases are available to
provide the latest articles on family nursing practices such as PubMed, Medline, and
Springer, hence it is hard for students and practitioners to access full text latest articles due to
a limited number of open access journals. Most of the journal charges a subscription rate for
downloading an article from their databases, which cause hindrance.
As I am practicing family nursing, therefore, I used to search literature on the above
databases. It was hard for me to identify the nursing journal on the big platform. The relevant
articles on big databases were not free to access, which limited my scholarly writing and
practice. Then I approached Walden university U library for searching scholarly articles and
found it very helpful. Walden University provides a very comprehensive and organized
digital library system for approaching multiple journals in an organized form. Ovid nursing
journal full text, Science Direct, ProQuest nursing, and allied health databases at Walden U
library helped in accessing the targeted nursing material easily. I found full family nurse
practice evidence-based articles from Walden databases. The articles such as primary care
(Poghosyan, Liu, Norful, 2017), counseling, and education (Ko Koh, & Kwon, 2019) and
nursing at acute hospitalization have been retrieved (Misto, 2018) free of cost. I found the
Walden U library very effective in accessing full-text peer review articles by following a few
simple steps. The Walden U library would be very useful to my colleague for several reasons.

peer-reviewed article, the nursing practice cannot be completed. Therefore, the collogues
must be aware of the system as it is not limited to family nursing practices, but also cover
each area of health issue. The access and knowledge about Walden university databases
would keep them to select articles according to their area of interest. Furthermore, as a family
nurse practitioner, I would recommend these databases to my colleagues so that they can find
the latest articles and improve their practical skills.
Furthermore, Walden University provides complete guidance on how to access and
retrieved the article in three simple steps. The three steps are choosing a relevant database,
enter right and relevant keywords, and looking at your results. The system is user-friendly;
every student can use it easily. The system also provides video clips for proper guidelines on
how to search, access, and download the relevant article. Therefore, I would like to
recommend the Walden university library to every student or colleague to make their practice
more effective following the latest trends.
