AI Summary
This presentation addresses the ethical responsibilities of FNQ Timber, a lumber milling company operating in Far North Queensland. It begins by defining stakeholders and their importance, emphasizing the company's ethical obligations to employees, supply chains, shareholders, customers, and local communities. The presentation then applies stakeholder theory to the logging industry, highlighting the need for ethical practices due to concerns about deforestation. A key element is the use of surveys to measure the company's impact on stakeholders, particularly local communities, and to ensure compliance with regulations like the Illegal Logging Prohibition Act of 2012 and Queensland's specific laws. The presentation concludes with recommendations for FNQ Timber, including implementing state laws, sourcing timber from sustainable resources, and conducting thorough land surveys to minimize negative impacts on the community. The presentation provides an overview of the company's ethical responsibilities and suggests methods for assessing and improving its practices.

Slide 1
In the terms of theory, the stakeholders are considered to be those groups of people who are
etiher being affected or affects the operations of a business (Harrison, Freeman and Abreu 2015).
An organization has ethical responsibilities towards his stakeholders since they have influence
upon the business and at the same time they have interests upon the business. A dissatisfied
stakeholder brings sustainable problems for organizations. For the FNQ Timber company, the
stakeholders are the employees, workers, supply chains, shareholders, customers and the local
communities. The company is ethically responsible to all of them
Slide 2
According to the stakeholder theory as proposed by Freeman, the basic of organization is to
make economic profit but at the same time keeping in mind he legal and social aspect (Freeman
2015). The logging industry is generally criticized for deforestation and thus it require to have
some ethical responsibilities for its sustenance.
Slide 3:
Survey is the best policy for measuring the impact of the operations of the company on the
stakeholder. A survey will be able to reveal how much affected the local communities are and
how the company is looking forward to minimize the environmental hazards. Moreover, a survey
will also have a proven record which can be tallied with the rules and regulations of the area
(Denny, Silaigwana, Wassenaar, Bull and Parker 2015.).
Slide 4:
Australia has he Illegal logging prohibition act of 2012 that forbids the sourcing of timber from
any un ethical or prohibited source. With diligence to this, Queensland has made use of illegal

logging prohibition that prohibits the companies to take timber for reserved areas (Guan. and Xu
2018).

Recommendation:
Queensland has passed specific laws in order to protect the forest resources of the area. There are
also specific rules and laws that are prevalent all over Australia for safeguarding the forest
resources and tracking the illegal business with timbers. The comoany can impose these state
laws within their operation. These regulations need to be communicated to the employees and
the workers effectively and they must also be made aware of the consequences in any kind of
breach of the laws.
The next step that can be taken by the company is to ensure that they are sourcing the timbers
from the area that are marked as sustainable resources. This will make it a compulsion for the
company to plant timber trees according to the numbers that have been cut down.
The company also needs to make an effective survey of the land in order to ensure that
their business is not negatively affecting the community life in the area.
