1 Introduction
The food delivery industry is growing at a very high rate. Customers now find it easy to order food online
rather than go to a restaurant to get the same food. This has been facilitated by the advancement in
technology which has made it easy for any customer to make orders by just using their mobile phones
through a mobile application or a web application. This report discusses the MealMe website which has
been developed to compete with other similar websites in the food delivery industry. It shows how the
website reaches the target audience and how the target audience uses it to achieve their desired goals.
2 Identified market
The food delivery industry is constantly growing especially in the United States. According to Statista, a
research done in 2016 showed that the revenue generated by the restaurant industry was close to 782.7
billion U.S. dollars. In 2015, consumer spending for food delivery was 30 billion U.S. dollars with 4 billion
U.S dollars accounted by online deliver sales. A survey done in November 2016 showed that 20 percent
of respondents use food delivery services at least once a week thus showing food delivery is very
popular (Statista, n.d).
According to these statistics it’s clear that is there is need for a platform through which users can make
orders from their favorite restaurants and have the food delivered to their doorstep. This is not the first
concept of its kind with there being other companies like Deliveroo and UberEats that use the same
concept. Although there are other existing companies, the market is still open for new entries like the
proposed MealMe website as the existing websites do not reach all the consumers and have not
enrolled all the restaurants preferred by many consumers.
3 Target audience
The MealMe website has three target audiences;
Customers in need of food deliveries
Restaurants in need of delivery services
Riders who will make the real delivery.
3.1 Customers
The customers in need of food delivered to their doors will access the website to make their orders. The
orders are based on the restaurants that are closest to the customer as the customer cannot make
orders to restaurants that are very far away from the customer. TO control this, during the time of
making the order, the customer will have to provide an address and a list of restaurants around that
area are shown for the customer to choose. The customer then makes an order and pays through an
online payment system
3.2 Restaurants
The restaurants in need of delivery services will access the system to receive orders from customers
making orders through the system. The restaurant will receive orders from customers who are in its
proximity. Upon receiving the order, the restaurant should package the food and hand it to the rider
who makes the delivery to the customer. The restaurant should constantly update their menu

depending on what they have available at any given time thus customers will order what is available so
that it can be delivered within the shortest period of time.
3.3 Riders
Riders are the people in charge of the deliveries. Riders report to the MealMe Company and not to the
restaurants or the customers. Before getting a job at MealMe the rider must have a smartphone. The
smartphone should either be running on the Android or IOS platform. The rider must also have a bike
and the required safety equipment for riding a bike to guarantee their safety. The riders get their
delivery requests on their smartphones. The request can be from any restaurant within their proximity.
Upon receiving the request, the rider reports to the restaurant, takes the order and delivers it to the
customer.
4 Purpose
The purpose of the website is to create an online presence for the MealMe Company and to create
awareness to the customers, restaurants and the potential riders interested with working with the
company. The main focus of the website is the customers who are the main determinants of this
business model as it is in any business. If there is no demand for the product or service, then the
business is not viable. This is the reason the website is focused on the customers. The website guides
the customer on how to make an order and allows them to login to access their accounts.
However, the website is not fully faithful to the original concept as it should provide a platform for
customers, restaurants and riders. The website has given more emphasis on the customers. This is done
to achieve the minimum achievable goals within the given timeline.
5 Future of the website
To remain relevant in the market, further development of the website will continue to include features
and functionalities for all the stakeholders i.e. customers, restaurants and riders. The website will be
developed to incorporate all the functionalities necessary to have an effective business process taking
place through the platform. This will ensure that the website stays relevant in the market.
6 Design decisions
To develop an attractive website, a lot of design decisions are made to make sure the website is
appealing to all users and all users are able to achieve all the possible desired goals through the website
(Goel, 2014). To make the website more appealing, a lot of quality images were used. The images are
designed to get the attention of the user making them want to view the whole website. The website
includes two pages; the home page and the contacts page. The home page has a lot of information and
features. It includes a slideshow with every image captioned with a message. It also has an animation
which is intended to get the attention of the riders who visit the page. An instructional video of how the
business process works is included to give more information to either customers, restaurants or riders.
The contacts page contains contact information and a contact form which can be filled to send a
message to the company. It also includes a navigational map showing the location of the MealMe
premises.
The basic layout includes a menu on the top most part of the page and then content section which is
customized depending on the page. On the bottom of the page there is the footer which has the

copyright information. The website is designed using bootstrap to achieve responsiveness making it
usable by users using it on either;
Large screen devices (For example desktops or laptops)
Medium sized devices (For example tablets or iPads)

Small sized devices (For example iPhones)

The responsiveness of the feature makes it usable on any device (Chad, 2016). The Typeface has been
designed using the typical F approach which requires it to be aligned from left to right thus making it
easy for users to read (Woods, 2014). The content of all pages adapt to the screen size of the device in
use thus making the website a cross platform website.
7 Conclusion
Due to the limited amount of time available for developing the website some features were not
accomplished to as envisioned in the main concept of the website. These features are to be added as
the business progresses to make sure all stakeholders are accessing one platform to achieve an efficient
business process.
