This paper will discuss food, water and energy dimension nexus based on two articles
and once video based on the topic. NEXUS is a policy which discusses the strategies for the
sustenance of resources (food, water and energy).
Summary of article 1
According to Endo et al., (2019) water energy food nexus study has been expanded
both in terms of geography and in terms of the academy. This paper also included
improvements to the nexus approach concepts, addressing the nexus challenges and
developed a methodology for it. The article discussed various review papers, which are
categorized into five groups and analyzed in a comprehensive pattern. Appropriate research
design and methodologies have been used by using various indicators to assess the nexus
tools and methods. The first dimension has been stated to address the linkages among energy,
water and food resource, sectors and systems by focusing on highlighting these components.
The second dimension has been stated to enhance the cooperation between the diverse
stakeholder groups and government policies. This study focused on WEF nexus
implementation of methodologies required for its expansion in terms of both geography and
academy. Future challenges were also discussed well in this research paper. This paper
followed the pattern of systematic literature review involving research papers of all research
designs. However, this study had limitations in the attempt of grasping the current nexus,
methods, methodology and tools state. Thus, on a concluding note, it can be stated that this
project highlighted the tradeoffs associated with the use of heat, nutrients, steam and drainage
of hot springs from underground water resources and river systems. These systems were
mainly found to be connected to the river and coastal systems between energy, water and
food sectors.

Summary of article 2
According to Albrecht, T. R., Crootof, A., & Scott, C. A. (2018) WEF (water-energy-
food) nexus is one of the rapidly rising research topics in policy settings and scholarly
literature. This is also a unique way to focus on developmental challenges and complex
resource. The nexus approach has been found to identify synergies of water, food systems
and energy, and tradeoffs. WEF nexus has been found to offer a promising and conceptual
approach which uses policies. This paper was also a systematic review which focused on
providing knowledge and promotion of further analytical methods which can align with
nexus thinking. The authors found that the use of reproducible and specific methods
associated with the nexus assessment is rare. They also found that the nexus methods fall
frequently short in capturing the interactions among energy, food and water. Use of
quantitative approaches was hiked and the use of social sciences was limited for every
research on this field. Overcoming these limitations are associated with the use of four key
features of nexus tools and methods. These four analytical tools are context, collaboration,
implementation and innovation. Thus paper has also found that a complex resource and
development challenges associated with transdisciplinary approaches are a primary
requirement for political and social dimensions of energy, water and food. These are the
overall points, which can be summarized from this piece of literature.
The next section will discuss the recommendation video based on the dimensions of
water, energy and food.
Recommendation Video
The video (IIEA, 2013), states that the world is hungry for food, and food is filled
with energy which finally is required to do some work. These three resources have been
stated to be under stress and are expected to be pushed to their limits of existence unless

controlled in terms of their use. Statistical data has proved that by 2050, this world will
consist of over nine billion people to feed. Thus, the production of more food is required and
the production of more food is associated with the requirement of more water. Thus, it can be
stated that, with the changing climate, the usage and production rate needs to be controlled
for all the three elements, water, food and energy. Therefore, the development of policies for
the control in the use of water, food and energy. Since overuse of these three elements will be
of great danger for the human community in future, thus control measures should be taken.
Nexus is one of such policies which aims at controlling or focusses in the sustainable use of
food, water and energy. These are the overall ideas which can be gathered from this video
published by IIEA.
