ACADEMIC LITERACIES THROUGH EXPLORING SUSTAINABILITY
Answer 1
We must know that the increased rate of world’s population requires excess food
production that is regarded as one of the greatest concerns of environmental degradation.
However, the most crucial concern is related to the production of meat as modern practices of
animal raising has a significant contribution to water as well as air pollution. This however,
results to the increase of emission of harmful gases and carbon dioxide which has great
impact on the climate change. The over occupied lives of ours has resulted us to be ignorant
and indifferent to the beauty of our surroundings. I believe we fail to acknowledge our
farmers and the ones who have immense contribution to food production. It made me
recognize the benefits of agriculture to the community which gave us such beautiful
landscapes, improved human health as well as biological diversity.
Answer 2
According to me, the economic impact on food production must be given more
importance as consumers in recent times prefer certain crops which produce better consumer
value leaving few significant cash crops important for daily survival. The price of certain
commodity crops namely corns and soy is highly dependent on factors such as economic
investment, climate change and demand of these crops. However, the dependency of poor
unskilled labour on conventional agriculture must also be taken into consideration. Certain
immigration laws influence the process of farming that further affects the labour accessibility
and labour laws that permits subsistence agricultural revenues.
