FOOD SECURITY AND FOOD SUSTAINABILITY
Part 1:
This paper reviews about the current policy of food regarding the food security which is
being followed globally. According to the author of the article the solution to the problem of
food security is to be solved by increasing the production of food rather than reforming the
policies since there is always a gap between the substantiation and policy. This paper basically
outlines the points which illustrates the complex analysis of food policy which states that the
food security is not advisable in this fresh framework since it can mean a lot of things. During
the 2007-2008 crisis of the rising spike in the prices, the UN was not all prepared for the problem
and the issue was addressed as under consumption of food due to the changes in price which is
found to be familiar during the early crisis points mainly during the 1930s and 1970s which
completely overshadows the modern analysis. The 2007-2008 food crisis mainly happened
because the food system was already under lot of stress and there were some key points which
suggested the outcome to go in wrong directions. This study suggests that the transition of
nutrition is symbolized by the consumption of more meat, dairy and soft drinks which leads to
the health impact of public as well an increase in the pressure of acquiring more lands, grains and
also an increase in the water consumption for the animals. The policies which respond to the
security regarding the food are all broken and are argued upon due to which different kind of
policies offer different kinds of conflicting analysis. This study also points out that although
there are a lot of policies for managing the food yet there will needs to be a vast changes in the
policies which will lead to the sustainability in the food systems. Different food companies who
were often considered as the enemy of the environment are now teaming up for reiterating a
social facet in the security of food which are basically margined in global economic crisis by the
efforts of the government in order to maintain the banking liquidity as well as customer

capitalism. Agriculture is still considered to be the main source of employment for the world but
owing to the conventional approach to the development in economy there is a shift in the labor
from the rural and the agricultural towards the off-farm with progress.
Part 2:
This article has put forward some strong points arguing about the obligation of feeding
the world population. But there are some certain loopholes which are found in this paper which
opposes this to be detailed study on the problem regarding food scarcity in the world. At present
there are enough production of food to feed the entire world but there is a major difference in the
per capita production of food1. In many other scholarly articles it is found that certain facts such
as consumption in western pattern is considered to be a suitable candidate for the such transition
in the food factor which will be benefiting the human health as well as the environment2. It is
argued that disconnection hinders the disconnection on sustaining the alterations that are
necessary in solving the complications like economic, environmental and social as well as health
conditions generated by the conventional food systems3. This will be fundamental in fostering
the complex as well as transformation in the universal field which will be necessary in achieving
the justifiable system of food which will provide a process to achieve a sustainable food as well
as security in nutrition4. The attempt to exterminate the starvation is as ancient as the human
civilization and the ways to find more and more sustainable food from ages to ages has been
