1. Introduction – This is the FoodCorner application that enables the customers to book a

compare prices before ordering food. Developed an interface named FoodCorner which is
easy to understand and provides a better user interface to those who are not familiar with
such kind of applications. Take an example of similar application that follows the
heuristic principles and usability testing in their design and the name of the UCD (user
cantered design) that identify during the project of user interface. The design interface is
also is prepared that can be implemented using this prototype. The design should be
prepared in a manner that it attracts the attention of the application user, motivate them to
explore more in the application. It should provide better user experience design to its
users using it. The report includes the user interface design with the user requirements to
justify the system design with different factors like, user requirement, design principles
and others. In the era of social media, the better the user experience (UX) design wins
(Evans, 2017).
2. Reflection of Interface Design
a. User interface design of Food Corner Application –
The design was made to create a prototype for Food Corner application. This prototype
interface will provide an idea of the food application from start to the end.
The idea behind this design is to increase UX of the user and also increases the
usability and better user interface of the application. Since designing is the initial
phase of any project development, a quality food application is designed to create a
responsive and user-friendly application in the future. This design visualizes the
future implementation of Food Corner application for mobile users, which will
provide a good user interface and better experience of its usability.
10 heuristics principles of user interface design, of Jakob Nielson, has been
considered by us while designing the interface of the application. these principles
have been implemented in the designing of one or the other page. Like, the system
visualizes its performance status and informs about an on-going activity for
example in table booking, login and payment pages.
The system is designed in simple terminology that is not ubiquitous (Wilson, 2013). It
provides the content in user-friendly language so that users can connect with the
system, for example, describing the food items.

not need to remember the tabs and instructions while exploring the application.
The user finds it flexible and efficient if it is simple to understand the system. Users
may be experienced or inexperienced; they both are able to operate the system
efficiently.
The design of the system is done that does not contain irrelevant content that is not
needed in the application. like the description page of the food items.
The users are able to recognize the text written in the error message because if they
can recognize the error message it will helpful for them to diagnose the errors on their
own for example if the user enters number in the name field, the system will generate
an error message.
Proper documentation is also provided to guide the users (“10 Usability Heuristics”,
2013).
b. Meeting the user requirements through the design:
The user requirements of Food Corner are that, when the user enters the application, he
should be asked to book the table first then he will be directed to register and log in the
application. When the user is registered successfully then he will be able to view the list of
food items, if the user wants to see the description of the food items then he can see the
description individually. If the user wants to add an item in the basket then he can select that
food item by clicking on ‘Add’ button. Fulfil the user requirement to provide offers and
discount functionality in the design. The design include the cart option as per the user
requirement as provide offers as well. User should be able to select multiple food items and
place the orders together as well. The user should be able to view current orders, edit the
orders before confirming them and finally place the order as depicted in Figure 2. Once user
placed the order, it should be followed by payment method. There is also providing an alert
option to confirm the payment. Users are free to make payment using any of the payment
methods. User can add discount coupon as the payment time. Once payment was done, they
can view the order status and how much time they require to wait. The system should provide
special offers to the customers who are ordering something from Food Corner (Endsley, M.
R. 2016).

designing. These were also the reason for influencing the design. The organization had
various requirements like proper management of forms present in the application, viewing
food menu items in home page, allow users with multiple payment options, and allow users
to avail offers and discounts while ordering the food items. The competitor of the
FoodCorner that also influenced the design of the application is Foodora. Foodora provides
food from the best restaurants in Australia. It provides the best interface which influenced my
design for FoodCorner, and it can be considered as our application design.
d. Discussion on similar interfaces:
Figure 1 and Figure two are the interfaces of selected competitor’s application and our
designed application. The interfaces of the selected application are very interactive and user-
friendly which motivated us to take ideas of designing from the application. The idea of add
food item into cart option is similar of the both application as well as the available status of
the food order is present in both application. The design interface of my orders page in the
selected application is very attractive and which is totally similar to our application. In the
selected application there are some limitations which are not in our application design. As
during the time of place an order, a status bar is shown on the screen while in the selected
application; there is no option of showing order status on the page. There are also several
good features in the selected application from which ideas have been taken to use in our
application.
3. Conclusion
This report analyses the design principles that helped us in designing the FoodCorner
application. The report focuses on the design and implementation of designing models during
the design process. Various factors have been considered that influenced the design of the
food corner. One competitor has been introduced in this report. The similarities and
differences have also been discussed. Usability principles have been discussed in the entire
report. The assignment includes the importance of heuristic principle and explains how Food
Corner fulfils those requirements.
