Forensic Tool Development Project

This project proposes the development of a digital forensic tool capable of mounting Expert Witness Format (.E01) files, performing searches, and facilitating information sharing among users. The tool addresses the lack of customizability and communication in existing digital forensic tools. Key modules include mounting (.E01) files using the Libewf API, creating .dd images, generating MD5 hashes for file integrity verification, a search function (by filename, file type, and string), note sharing with user access control, report generation, and case management features for team leaders. The project emphasizes the importance of mounting for evidence access, efficient search capabilities, and collaborative note submission and viewing to streamline investigations. The system also includes functions to unmount evidence files and ensure data integrity.
