This case study focuses on Frank Rainsford's management decisions at Frank's All-American BarBeQue, particularly regarding the assignment of roles to Ed Tobor, Robert, and Susan. The solution recommends appointing Ed Tobor as assistant manager due to his extensive restaurant experience, Robert as marketing head because of his marketing degree and social media expertise, and Susan as Ed Tobor's assistant to facilitate her learning and development in management. Question Four
In the current circumstances, Frank Rainsford though, has a tough task at hand, but he
should appoint Ed Tobor as the assistant manager of the new restaurant. Ed Tobor has
experience in handling restaurants for the last fourteen years. He also has the knowledge
about the restaurant in-depth and clearly understands the vision which Frank holds for the
restaurant. On the other hand, both Robert and Susan, who has been a part of their family
business only for a short time does not have the level of expertise which Ed Tobor have in
managing the local customers in a better way (Karatepe and Kilic, 2015). Also, Robert has a
professional degree in marketing and he has humongous knowledge about the new
advertising practices through social media. So, it would be more appropriate for Frank to
appoint him as the marketing head of the organization, which will help in reaching out to new
customers on a larger scale. As far as Susan is considered, she is not very well-versed with
business and management. So, it would be more appropriate for Frank to appoint her as the
assistant of the manager Ed Tobor, as it is essential for her to gain knowledge and learn a lot
about management and the restaurant from him. In this way, Frank will be able to designate
each person to a position which will be appropriate for their qualifications and will also be
beneficial for the organization (Cadden and Leuder, 2014).
