Phase I
Introduction:
Fridge-en is the phone application to track freshness of the
grocery and food in the fridge and avoid wasting food. This
application helps user keep record of the groceries kept in the
fridge and leftover food kept in the fridge. It keeps separate record
for the food kept in the freezer and pantry. This app will have easy
to use user interface for inputting the record of food with
expiration date. The app will have clearly labelled and color coded
information for users. It will notify users if any food or items are
going to expire soon.
It will give user option to record wasted food. If enough
information is collected from user, this app will suggest users to
reduce down the amount of particular item on grocery.
User can create a grocery list in this app and share with friends
and family and track items purchased. With enough history of
user’s shopping list and depending upon the items remaining in
the fridge and pantry, this app may suggest user while creating a
grocery list.

Deliverables:
The app will be functional both in the Android as well as the IOS
platform.
IOS Platform
The steps that are to be followed for downloading the app in IOS
are as follows: -
Step 1: Open the Apple App Store.
Step 2: Sign in with the Apple id.
Step 3: Browse the app store to get the app that is to be
downloaded.
Step 4: After searching the app, tap on the app
Step 5: Maker online payment for the app
Get the app and use it.
Android platform
The steps that are to be taken for downloading the app in Android
platform are as follows: -
Step 1: Open Play Store.
Step 2: Sign in with valid email and password.
Step 3: Search for the app and download the same.
Install the app and open the same and use it.

Research Question
Research Question 1 : What are the benefits that will be enjoyed
due to the usage of Fridge-en phone application?
Research Question 2: What are the issues that might be faced
due to the usage of the Fridge-en app?
Research Question 3: What are the ethical considerations that
might be present in the process?
Sampling
Random sampling method is implemented in the completion
of the study. The reason of selecting this method of sampling is
because with the help of this method a vast group of audiance
can be taken into consideration. Hence proper understanding of
the demands of the potential client can be set. Another aspect
that is to be cosnidered is that there will be no partiality in the
answerws that will be received. The data that will be collected can
be considered as guidelines during developing of the application.
Again with performing of random sampling the main advantage
that will be received is that the quality of tasks performed will be
sustainable in nature. No specific set of audiance is considered in
this section. Accepting the ideology of all set of audiance ensures
that the application developed based on the feedbacks will be
having a higher acceptability. Biasness of the entire process can
be eliminated. This elimination ensures that accuracy of data
analysis process will be high as well.

Data collection method
Both secondary and primary data collection methods are used in
this section. In the initial stage secondary data collection process
is implemented. Proper concept development is performed with
the help of secondary data collection part. In this section
theoretical data are collected and proper ideologies regarding app
development is performed (Kumar 2019). This helps in proper
understanding of the difference in between the platforms of
Android and IOS. With proper knowledge of the launching
platforms, changes can be developed as per the platform and
make the same efficient for both the platforms. After the
secondary data collection process, primary data collection
process is to be performed. In this stage survey will be performed.
In this survey randomly sampled audience is considered. Survey
questions are created and provided to the sampled population.
The answers that are provided by the survey takers are
considered and hence wise analyzed. After proper analysis
conclusions are drawn (Silverman 2016). In the primary data
collection both primary and secondary data analysis is performed.
Survey questions that are set are both descriptive and objective
as well. The descriptive data are the part of the qualitative data
and the data that are collected via numeric data, quantitative data
collection and analysis is made.
Advantages
• Reduces wastage of food: Fridge-en application provides a
proper understanding of the freshness of the products that are
stored in the refrigerator. With the help of the fridge-en app,
tracking of freshness of the food and grocery can be performed.
Proper steps can be taken for keeping the food fresh in case it is
known which food or grocery is degrading (Osisanwo. Kuyoro &
Awodele 2015).

• Record of the products in the fridge: Another major benefit
that is enjoyed is that a precise data regarding the products that
are present in the refrigerator can be made (Tindemans, Trovato
& Strbac 2015). This process helps in keeping a track of the items
that are present and the items that are to be bought.
• Proper documentation of product present in freezer as well
as pantry: A refrigerator is mainly diversified in 2 sections, namely
pantry and freezer. The pantry section is used for keeping normal
food and grocery whereas the freezer section is considered for
keeping the food and grocery chilled. With proper data of the
products kept in each section, it will be helpful for the users to
manage the products.
• Records food expiry date: With proper understanding of the
expiry date proper steps can be taken by the user (Vrettos, Ziras
& Andersson 2016). This will lead to decrease in wastage of food
and grocery.
• Record wasted food: Proper recording of the food that are
wasted, helps in making the users to understand the mistakes
that they have made which has led to wastage of the food and
hence they will not be repeating the same mistake henceforth.
Disadvantages
There are a few disadvantage of this application as well. The
major disadvantage that is present in this case is that in case the
data gets corrupted the entire functional process will be suffering
and the food and grocery that are present in the refrigerator will
be getting spoilt and wasted as well (Paraskevopoulos 2017).
Data collected will be huge and maintaining the same will be an
issue. Data corruption is the main issue that might cause in this
technology.
Ethical considerations
There is only one ethical consideration in the entire process.
The data that are collected might be accessed in an
unauthenticated manner. This ensures that the data that are
collected in the database might get breached. This breaching of
data without the concern of the user is an ethical issue. The

personal data that are stored in the database of the app will be at
stake.
Conclusion
From the above discussion it can be stated that there are
both advantages and disadvantages present in the app that is
being developed. However, the advantages that are received due
to the application is much higher than that of the disadvantages
that are present. Hence it will be beneficial if the app gets
developed in a proper manner and fulfil the scope and objectives
decided in the initial stage.
