Case Study
AI Summary
This case study examines Fritz David Marketing (FDM), a large car parts producer facing the challenge of training new hires due to impending retirements. It outlines the needs, resources, and constraints involved in developing a new training program. The analysis includes the requirements for training new hires within 90 days, publishing documented training material, providing motivational incentives, and offering operational knowledge regarding the steel blanker machine. Resources such as experienced workers and the need for new training materials, safety equipment, and communication spaces are considered. Constraints include venue availability, a noisy environment, and inadequate lighting. The proposed design solutions focus on ongoing training, infrastructure improvements, and motivational incentives. The study concludes that video training and a well-designed instructional process can effectively prepare new employees for deployment in the production line. 2ID CASE ANALYSIS
Introduction:
Fritz David Marketing (FDM) is one of the large car parts producers that has been facing
unique problem in recent days. Most of the employees of the firm are retiring within next 90
days (Tracey, 2018). Now the firm has to train their new hires and bring them on the production
floor as soon as possible. Abby Carlin is aimed to describe a new design solution for the firm to
develop the environment of the manufacturing plant and takes into needs, resources and
constraints consideration.
Things to include in Abby and Joyce list:
Things that need to be introduced in the needs, resources and constraints list to describe
the design solution for the FMD are as follows:
Needs:
Noting down the requirements is the first step to trace the need of any firm (Stark, 2015).
Thus FMD need to do the same
It is highly required to train the new hires within the next 90 days
FMD need to publish documented training material for the employees
The firm need to provide motivational incentive to the trainer and to the employees for
better integration with the firm’s management and operational framework
FMD need to bring in long term planning program for future training of the employees
Operational knowledge regarding the steel blanker machine is the key to proper
functioning of the production line (Tracey, 2018). Thus it would be ideal for the FMD to
provide necessary training and knowledge to the new hires

3ID CASE ANALYSIS
Resources:
Old workers are working in the FMD for last 30+ years and thus they are not required
any training (Tracey, 2018). However, now the firm need to bring in new training
material for the employees
The firm need to provide enough lighting and safety means to promote security
Room for the employees are required to share their ideas
Constraints:
Training session of the new hires is subject to availability of the proper venue
The firm operates in a noise environment that hampers the training of the new hires
Availability of the lights in the firm is not adequate that possess limitation to the training
process
Common place is required for motivating employees and share new ideas (Maruping &
Magni, 2015). Lack of place for communication is hampering the motivational factor and
production factors of the employees
Design solutions and plant environment analysis:
Goal statement:
FMD need to place ongoing training process in order to make their new hires master in
the required skills
Infrastructure:
From the case study it has been found that firm need to provide enough safety equipment
to the employees and room to share ideas.

4ID CASE ANALYSIS
Allocation of competencies and personnel:
Motivation is essential for the employees to work properly (Pinder, 2014) To bring in
positiveness in the firm’s environment, it is important to provide motivational incentive to the
trainers and employees.
Conclusion:
To conclude it can be said that the firm can perform the training process with the help of
video training and saving the same would be helpful for future training too. Developing
instructional process of design and material would guide the FMD to train their new employees
and make them suitable for deployment in the production line.
