1 INTRODUCTION
The project mainly focuses on the “construction of fuel tank” for Jet in Caltex Australia,
which is one of the organizations, that mainly engages in refining, purchasing, distributing as
well as marketing various types of petroleum products in Singapore as well as Australia. The
organization wants to construct a new fuel tank so that the organization can store jet fuel up to 26
million liter.
In this project, entire purpose of project management plan is discussed. The report
illustrates the assumptions, constraints, scope management plan, deployment plan, change
control management as well as quality management plan. It is identified that the project also
elaborates risk management plan in order to reflect on the risks and their mitigation strategies.
1.1 PURPOSE OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PLAN
The main purpose of the project management plan is to construct a fuel tank of 26 million
liter for Jet in Caltex Australia. The organization wants to construct the tank so that they can
store millions of liters of jet fuel, which is further helpful in meeting the needs as well as
requirements of the consumers all around Australia and Singapore. It is identified that the fuel
tank can be constructed within the budget of $138,080 in 193 days. In order to construct the tank,
different stakeholders are involved with the project and the stakeholders includes contractors,
sub-contractors, supervisors, project planner, project manager, consultant, architect as well as
risk analyst.
2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF PROJECT CHARTER
The paper reflects on the organization “Caltex Australia Limited” which is one of the
organizations that mainly involves in distributing, marketing, refining as well as purchasing
various types petroleum products. It is identified that due to the growth of the business of Caltex,
the organization wants to build one of the jet fuel tank of 36 million liter so that they can store
large amount of jet fuel for delivering jet fuel to the customers irrespective of time and situation.
In order to construct the fuel tank numbers of assumptions are made by the project manager so
that the entire project will be completed successfully within the estimated time and budget.
2.1 ASSUMPTIONS/CONSTRAINTS
Assumptions: The various assumptions of the project are elaborated below:
The construction of the jet fuel tank will be completed within the assumed time that is
around 193 days.
It is assumed that the budget that is needed in order to construct the jet fuel tank is around
$138,080.
All the tasks that are assigned to the project stakeholders will be completed within
deadline
The risks that can create negative impact on the progress of jet fuel construction are
identified.
Constraints: The various types of constraints of the project are as follows:

Document Page
<Project Name>
Cost: The project must be completed within the estimated budget that is around
$138,080. If the project managers are unable to manage the project properly within the budget
that is assumed then it will create financial pressure on the organization. Thus, it is quite
important to complete all the activities of the project successfully within the assumed budget.
Schedule: The project manager must follow the schedule of the project in order to
execute the project properly. If the project schedule is not maintained properly while progressing
with the project then it will be quite difficult to complete the project within the estimated time.
Scope: The construction of jet fuel tank must be done as per the project scope. If the
scope of the project is not maintained then the requirements as well as need of the project are not
met.
3 SCOPE MANAGEMENT
The detailed project scope is elaborated below:
Requirements: It is identified that the jet fuel tank of 26 million liter is mainly
constructed so that the organization Caltex Australia can store the jet fuel for supplying it
to its customers quickly.
In scope and out scope:
In-scope of the project is:
Construction of jet fuel tank of 26 million liter
Creating proper foundation plan for the project site
Developing signal wiring, fuel operating system, fuel tank as well as creating vacuum
assist
The project muse be completed successfully within the time that is around 193 days
Out scope of the project are:
The development of card reader system is not done
Proper training facility is not provided to the project team members.
Deliverables: The deliverables of the project are as follows:
Proper test plan report must be prepared in order to test the tank that is developed
Proper budget plan documentation is created
Proper report on the requirement of the project is provided
Proper scope verification method is created
The entire development phase of the tank is documented
Scope verification process: It is identified that acceptance criteria of the project is mainly
utilized in order to meet various needs as well as requirements of the organization. It is also
advantageous in reducing the response time for providing appropriate supply of jet fuel to the
customers.
