1COMMUNICATION
Introduction
Fuku Metal Finishing Sdn Bhd is a company that specializes in metal plating and
finishing services since the year of 1980 (Fukumetal.com, 2019). In this report the internal
and external communication systems of this company will be analyzed and compared to
study the relationships they maintain and the importance of such processes in this company
that has been in the business for a long time.
Internal Communication
In an interview with one of the people in charge we made note of the methods they
adopt when communicating with both employees and staff within the organization as well as
the customers and clients they serve. Internal communication is done via social media like
Whatsapp or normal SMS’s and calls. There is no clear cut Human Resource department and
the employees report to the owners and managers. Their processes are mostly face to face.
They conduct interviews face to face as well as they check the prospective employees’
knowledge of the work, eyesight, physical ability and their willingness to work hard and in a
team (Daly 2002). There is little scope of miscommunication because work is cut out for
everybody. Whenever problems are raised they are solved in face to face meetings.
External Communication
The external communication was similar. The company has been in business for a
long time and given the limited number of companies in this service industries, they are easy
to reach. Their customer base mostly comprises of manufacturers who require their services.
They take bulk orders by either Whatsapp or Calls. Their systems are mostly manually
maintained and not digitally (Bentley et al. 1999). Apparently the scope for dispute in these
orders is very little as work is cut out from them. The manufactures place orders in bulk thus
they specify the kind of metal finish they require. They make sure their work is perfectly

detailed and that the employees understand what is being asked of them, to ensure customer
satisfaction.
Comparison
On comparing the two kinds of channels of communication it is evident that the
methods used are similar. They quickly solve disputes and go about their work. In a service
based industry information and communication is very important because providing goods
that please the customer is their motive. They channels they utilize leave very little scope for
miscommunication (Darling & Dannels 2003). Here, two industries are codependent on each
other. The manufacturing and service industry is highly related. Both parties make sure that
they communicate clearly because if they do not they will suffer enormous losses.
The Importance of Communication
Thus it is evident that communication is very important in their company, it starts
from the time an employee enters the company as these hands on work companies provide
elaborate training to their workers to ensure the delivery of quality products to customers.
Like every other company they believe that communication is integral for the business to do
well and flourish and because of such excellent communication that has been maintained over
years, they even manage to source various new clients successfully.
