INTRODUCTION
Business is commonly a practice which can be professional, industrial or commercial.
This activity is done with the aim of gaining more revenues. A business practice is a complex
method and it has been separated into several types in order to get an appropriate determination
of its goals as well as objectives. In order to operate business effectually there are various kinds
of operations which operates in classifying the work of the staff in accordance to their experience
or job profile. There are various kinds of department such as consumer service, finance, human
resource, sales, marketing etc. The following report is based on evaluating various kinds of vital
operational functions of the business firm with their obligations and duties. Moreover, it includes
the kinds of skills which are required by the workers to operate effectually in the working
departments.

What is Functional areas of business - Definition
The method of maintaining a business organisation is very tough. It requires quality
serving as well as innovation in the products for managing and constructing a brawny presence
in the market area. Several kinds of functions encounter in the way of exercising and operating a
business practice. These practices can be communicating, decision making, making goals and
objectives and many more (Stewart, 2021). In order to classify the operation to minimise the
issues and enhance the performance, these practices has been separated into several operational
areas which are assumed to concentrate on their divisions and function on operating their
assigned work effectually. These organisational divisions are interrelated to each other in order
manage the link in the company. Few of the essential kinds of business divisions are written
below briefly:

Marketing – This department is most crucial for the business organisable. As it is
formed to provide information about the brand or the product to the consumers. It also
assist the firms in increasing their brand reputation. Advertising the goods of the firm and
making an appropriate image in the market area is the essential operation of this division.
Moreover to this, it focuses on doing various research or market and making the effectual

campaigns which is the most crucial element of this department. The workers of this
division is majorly linked with their clients because of they are capable to get and work
on all the opportunities in the efficient way. Company need to adapt several techniques of
digital marketing in order to grow in the market for the long period of time. With the
support of these method appropriate connection with their consumers has been made.
Human Resource Management – The workers of this department is being known as the
major assets of the firm. As the essential working of this division is to recruit, fire, hire,
providing appropriate training of the several divisions of the firm. Moreover to this,
practices like compensation, rewards of the workers, training campaigns and several
more is done by this division of the company. The accomplishment of the objectives and
goals that are made by the higher level management of the firm is majorly focused on the
experience, talent and skills of the employees. The skilled labour that are recruited by this
division operates every working of the company in an efficient and effectual way and
accomplish all the targets of the firm. Furthermore, with this performance or the
productivity of the firm has been better.
Consumer service – The services that are offered by the firm to their consumers
regarding the products, any queries or issues in the offered goods as well as after sale
services are come under this division. The workers of this division is responsible for
assisting to their consumers. In accordance to enhance the base of their consumers,
management can make their customers understood and comfortable as well. The goods
that are offered by them will be to give appropriate services to their clients because the
workers of this division is being known as the main face of the firm. The employees that
are recruited for this division need to be smart and intelligent (Eva, and Afroze, 2021) .
Finance – The division is being known as the most essential division of the firm. All the
business dealing that are linked to the purchase of raw material, sale of the goods, wages
are maintained in the books of the firm which is done by this department. Moreover to
this, getting several sources of capital, maintain the books of the firm and allotting the
funds to other departments of the company are the some roles of this department.
Research and Development – This is a practice which a firm operates in accordance to
get new goods, services or processes, or to modify these which are already being sold in
the market place. In accordance to do this, businesses usually takes major risk. It is due to

the uncertainties which are there if what this department is doing is feasible. R&D is a
crucial operation for many firm in order to launch the products or services or to modify
the current goods in accordance to be remain in the competitive environment as well as to
make more profits.
Sales – It refers to the exchange of the firm's offering in reference of anything of value or
anything of financial instrument. This department is obliged for making sales, helping in
business to grow, retaining current consumers of the firm (BaElsharnouby, and Elbanna,
2021). Commonly the most essential operation of the sales department is managing the
relationship with the consumer. It is the key for the happy as well as long term consumer
bonds which will lead to the profitability of the company.

Skills needed by Marketing employees:
The proper skills of communication is needed in the workers of this department and with
the support of it, people are capable to express the use of the products to the consumers in
an effectual manner.
The worker in this division should function the evaluation of the issues of the clients in a
appropriate way and by overcoming the issues. They can enhance their sales of the
organisation.
Skills needed by Human Resource Management employees:
The employees of this department should have the patience, should know how to manage
workforce, need to be calm and with the aid of such skills they can effectually maintain
the workers of the firm and solve the issues among them (mhdi, 2021).
The employees need to have negotiation skill in order to appropriately negotiate with the
workers in their wages, compensation, rewards or other several practices which is
advantageous for the firm.
Skills needed by Finance employees:
The employees of this department need to have this skill which will assist them to
provide suitable solution for the several issues and with the support of it, management
can increase their productivity.

Worker of this department have to maintain books and record all the business dealings in
it, so in order to do that the employee must know the appropriate accounting skill (Ton,
and Hammerl, 2021).
Skills needed by Research and Development employees:
In order to be more effective and efficient to accomplish the goals and objectives, an
employee of this department should possess the management skill which will
advantageous for the accomplishment of such goals and objectives.
Research skill is very much essential for the workers of this department as in order to
conduct appropriate market or product research which can enhance the sales of the
company.
Skills needed by Sales employees:
The worker of this division should have the better attitude and behaviour. With the
support of it, employees can tell about the offerings of the firm to their consumers in an
appropriate manner (Franke, Foerstl, and Heese, 2021).
Knowing the needs of the consumers is very essential in order do it in an effectual way
and it also required for the workers to have proper listening skills.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that the practices of the organisation which
has been focused on the size as well as nature of the organisation. Moreover to this, staff in this
division effectually as well as efficiently function these divisions which has been given with the
particular obligations and they are also interrelated with all the departments of the company. The
skills that are needed by the workers of all the department of the firm is also been concluded in
the above report.
