Business is the association that creates a money making activity with the objective to earning
profit. While establishing the business the person required to invest a huge amount of capital to
build a institution with the goal of long term sustainability of company. Whereas the company
required a functional area in regards of conducting business properly and systematically in the
market, these areas assist the business in understanding that what and hoe it should be done
(Woods and Woods, 2021). In this essay considering Mark and Spencer which is UK based
company deals in super market it is well recognised brand in international market. The essay
will explain that how functional area work in creating a firm effective and successful (Shah and
Cheng, 2021).
MAIN BODY
The organisation are divided in the segments according to the skills and their profession so that
the person can work properly in their area by achieving a goal successfully. It include the
various department that helps in working successfully these are describe below.
Function of marketing - This department is appointed in order to promote the services
provided by the company for the consumer by understanding the consumer taste and
desires. They help in making a marketing strategy that is used in target market or to reach
the target customers. In case of Mark and Spencers, the company uses the modern
techniques to promote the business in the market.
Function of human resource - the department of the company has appointed to hire a
skilled and professional person for the company to create a professional environment in
the company. In case of Mark and Spenser management should hire a expertise who
have proper knowledge of operating the work in the concern (Rumbeniece,2020).
Function of Operations – this department is the responsible for producing the quality
product in the firm by reducing the waste of sources and reduce the cost in relation of
M&S, the management should focus on reducing the overhead charges in the production
activity.
Function of Finance - the department is assigned for assigning the funds in the business.
the management of M&S, should record the transaction of the business accordingly and
focus on increasing the profit of business (Xiao, 2021).

thus, these all departments are interlinked with each other as finance department offers the
amount for completing the projector task assign to them successfully in order to achieving an
objectives which is set by the company (Pasin, 2019). All other areas are also plays a specific
roles in their departments as human resource is also required to hire a skilled workforce and
operations departments required for producing the quality product and reduction of overhead
cost. Whereas the role of marketing is essential as it creates a marketing strategy of promoting
goods in the targeted market.

From the above report it is concluded that all the functional areas are related with other and all
those work for achieving a goals of the business successfully. These all are appointed to make
the concern and management effective and productive.
