Introduction
John has less experience so he somewhere lacks in skills which is needed by an employee so
that they can work effectively and can result better in the organization. Recently John has just
won ÂŁ10 million in one lottery. So, John has decided to buy IOM electronics limited and
decided running of that company by their own. This company is an organization with 200
employees which are based in two sites which are Manchester and Liverpool. John
understands that to manage a business, he is requires proper skills and knowledge. He accepts
that he does not have any practical knowledge, requirements and responsibilities which is
involved in running a business. This report analyses the various functional areas involved in
the business and required skills to manage these functional areas in an organization.

Functional area in business organizations
Human Resources
Recruiting human resource in the form of employees is the well-known task of business
department. Human resource is considered as the important part of the business as employee
are the sword of the business. An employee can make or break the company so human
resource is the functional area which put right people to right place for the proper working of
the organization and for earning effective and efficient growth and profitability (Pan, Lu, and
Lei 2018) . In this Human resource managers have to hire people with proper experience,
skills and qualifications. Human resource also considers the effective areas in the
organization that are relation between employees and managers, organizational development,
training and learning and compensation and benefits. John should have the proper knowledge
of human resource as it is considered as the critical asset and organization needed skilled and
knowledgeable employees.
Accounting and Finance
As in an organization human resource Is considered as the heart of the company so
accounting and finance is its lifeblood, as take care of all the money in the organization. An
organization is nothing without monetary terms as no operational or any kind of function can
be performed without money. A business cannot be started and cannot be able to run without
money (Ferguson, and Lowes, 2019) . The main responsibilities of this functional areas are it
have to take records of money going in, which is account receivables and the money that goes
out which is account payable. This area also takes a charge of payroll and make sure that
employee of the organization is getting paid accurately or not. In this financial statement and
reporting can also be used for forecasting, budgeting and decision making in the business.
John should have proper knowledge of accounting and finance sectors and it all deals in
money and money is the main purpose of opening an organization to earn profit.
Marketing and advertising
After a certain time, every organization needs a growth in the organization and wants to
increase their market and customer base all over the world. For the growth and expansion of
the business marketing and advertising strategies are required. This department in an
organization plays a huge role in promoting the organization and also accomplish the vision
and mission of the company. They take care as a whole in pricing, packaging and bringing
new and innovative products in the market to target the potential customers (Prusty, Barik,
and Swain, 2019). For the advertising and marketing of organization proper surveys and
research has been required for fulfilling customer satisfaction, needs and requirements. John
should have proper knowledge for this department which has vital role in an organization and
it will also help his company for growing and expanding in different areas.
Information Technology
Nowadays, each business uses information system and computers and this department is
responsible for hardware, architecture, networking and software. This department provides
