INTRODUCTION
Functional areas refers to a teams of employees who are working with similar skills and
expertise. An organisation is formed with various functional areas as it is useful to gain
successful results. It is very essential to team up projects and for smooth functioning of activities
presented (Bordoloi, Bordoloi and Sarmah, 2021). In particular report involves that a person
John who is 21 years old have a little working experience and won a £10 million in a lottery. By
receiving this money John decided to but local business i.e. IOM electronics limited with a
motive of running himself. To effectively run the business this report present several functional
areas and types of skills that are needed by employees to work effectively within the presented
functional areas so that high profitable results is attained effectively and efficiently.

Business is refers to an organisation that are mainly engaged in industrial, commercial
and professional activities. It refers to an organised efforts and activities to produce and sales
goods and services for generating profits. To done business operations effectively it is very
essential to have an several functional areas so that activities are done smoothly and
appropriately (Messina, Boiti and Vallortigara, 2021). The functional areas in business helps in
understanding employees skills and knowledge so that proper arrangement of work is to be done
and carried out. Therefore this report helps John who buy an IOM electronics to effectively focus
on gaining knowledge regarding the various functional areas of business so that they operate in
profitable manner. This helps IOM electronic to sustain in market for longer time period. Several
functional areas that are needed within business are presented below:
 Marketing functional area- It is a type of functional area that helps company to
recognise the needs and requirements of customers so that firm design the products
accordingly (Luo, Zhu and Han, 2021). This area involves advertising of goods and
services, analysing how the goods are being delivered to customers and develops a
strategy related to pricing to capture high market share for remain competitive within
