INTRODUCTION
Functions of business are the activities which are carried out the organisations and they can
be classified as core functions and support functions of the organisation. Such functions are
performed by various departments that facilitate achievement of the overall organisational goal
(Sag, Sezen and Alpkan, 2019). The organisation that is taken in this report is Primark which is a
fashion retailer. In this report importance of various function of the organisation are discussed
along with the important of interrelation of various departments.
MAIN BODY
Marketing Department
Definition: Marketing department is responsible for promoting the business of the organisation
so that sales of the product and services can be increased (Hamilton and Webster, 2018). For
this various research need to be done by them regarding the target customers, their taste and
preference etc.
Importance: The marketing department of Primark formulate various promotional strategies,
with which they promote their clothing, maintain relations with the public and with the
distributors etc. Also it facilitates them in developing new product as per customers need
and wants.
Finance Department
Definition: The finance department is responsible for planning, organising, auditing, accounting
and controlling of finance of the company. Also they formulate various financial statements
(Cagle, Yılmaz and Doğru, 2020).
Importance: The Finance department of Primark identify various sources of funds and
according to the needs procure the funds. In addition to this it formulates various budgets so
that the operations can be managed.
Human resource Department
Definition: Human resource department is responsible for the well being of the human working
in the organisation (Osman, 2017). They determine the benefits for the employees, their
hiring and selection, payroll etc.
