INTRODUCTION
Evidence based practice is an essential concept that refer to purposeful use of the best and
latest evidence in making the most effective and important decisions about patient and health
care. It can be a problem solving approach to the delivery of health care that integrates the best
evidence from studies, research and patient care information with clinician expertise and patient
preferences and values. EBP is the integration of clinical expertise, patient value and the best
research evidence in to the decision making process fro health care. Evidence based practice is
important for applying clinical care which is based on cultural tradition. The aims and objectives
of EBP is provide the high quality and cot effective health services to the clients so that they can
feel satisfaction. It is helpful to keep practices current, relevant and maximizing confidence in
decision making. The key principle of EBP is to use the best and most recent evidence for
making good healthcare decisions which are helpful for healthcare industry. This report will be
discussed about the role of research for evidence based practice in health and social care. Further
will be defined about the key literature which will be helpful for making improvement in care
practice. A project proposal and value of the literature review process in influencing positive
change in health, care or support service provision will also be explained.
TASK 1
Importance of evidence based practice in Health and social Care
In Health and Social care sector, EBP is important because the main objective of it to
offer the most effective care that is available with the motive of improving patient outcomes. The
importance of evidence based practice is as following:
To provide effective care- EBP is important to offer essential and necessary care to the
patients. For example, in health care sector, a person is suffering from Tuberculosis then the
person required some extra and effective care like, different type of healthy food, hygienic
clothes and proper need of cleaning extra. In effective care, healthcare providers have a
responsibility to safeguard all patients from harm and minimize risk.
Reduce cost of patient care- EBP is important to minimize the fund of sick people by
planning ahead for urgent and emergency care. For example, health and social care sector, there
are various organisation which are also work for social care and they are also offer medicines
and health care products at affordable and minimum rate. So that normal people can also

purchase them who are suffering from different disease. This will help in reducing cost of patient
care. EBP is also important because by offering a health care saving account and flexible
spending account, it help in minimizing the cost of patient care.
Purpose and process of conducting evidence based practice in health and social care
Purpose of evidence based practice- the main objective of EBP is to insure that clinical
recitation is depend on stable information and patients get advantages in term of outputs.
Information based practice seeks to regenerate exercise as usual with recitation target-hunting by
religious result destined investigation, ideally irregular pressurized trials. The purpose of EBP is
to provide good quality and cost effective health services, to increase satisfaction between
patients and help in maximizing the level of confidence in decision making.
Process of conducting evidence based practice- EBP is a process of life long, problem based
learning. It is a concept that implies to all the health sciences and the process of EBP is as
following:
Change over data requirements into centred questions.
Effectively tracking down the best information with which to answer the question.
Critically evaluative the data for credibility and clinical quality.
Implementing outcomes in clinical exercise.
Evaluation of the performance of the information in clinical application.

EBP process- It is evidence based practice and this process include 5 steps which are as
following:
Ask- This is the first step step, in it the information is gathered by asking questions and
converting the need for information about diagnosis, prevention, prognosis, causation and
therapy etc.
Access- It is second step and under it, the information is find and tracking down the best
evidence with which to answer the question.
Appraise- In the thirst stage, the information critically analyse and appraising that evidence for
its validity, impact and applicability.
Apply- This is the next step and with in it, integrating the critical appraisal with clinical expertise
and with patient's unique biology, values and circumstances.
Assess- This is the last step and with in this the evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency in
executing steps 1-4 and seeking ways to improve them both for next time.
Skills and qualities which are required to conduct a literature review
Literature review is basically a discussion of scholarly articles relevant to a specific topic
of issues. It can be a survey books, area of research, theory and by so doing which provides a
description, summary and critical evaluation of the work in context to the research issue being
find out and investigated. There are different kind of skills which are required to conduct a
literature review in health and social care sector, some of them are as mentioned below:
Communication skills- It is highly and majorly required skill when a researcher conduct
literature review. It include reading and writing skills. During the time of conducting this
process, the person need to have good writing skills so that the individual can complete the work
in effective manner. Effective writing skill is necessary because if the researcher gave this skill
then there are no chances to make grammatical and spelling mistakes. In order to transfer any
kind of information, it is very important to have effective communication skills, so that relevant
and accurate information should be transfer from one department to another. Along with this, it
is very necessary to transfer information to in order to provide high quality services and satisfy
the requirements of patients.
Time management skills- It is another skill which is also required to conduct a literature
review. With the help of this the person can manage own work and complete in given period of
time. For example, if an individual conduct this process then the researcher required a specific
