INTRODUCTION
Management can be defined as the activities related to planning, controlling, organizing and
directing. These activities assist business in achieving their goals and objectives. It is basically
the way about how person manages their skills and abilities. Present report will lay emphasis on
traditional and contemporary approaches of management. It will also define the areas in which
improvement is required.
MAIN BODY
Knowledge gained in workshop by comparing traditional and contemporary approaches of
management
I have gained intense amount of knowledge when going through literature that is being
linked with traditional and contemporary approaches of management. I have analysed that in
traditional approach of management, the special emphasis is being laid on communication so that
the objectives of business can achieved efficiently (Cram and Marabelli, 2018). In this I have
learned that managers need to lay focus on providing honest feedback to employees who are
working firm so that problems can be solved efficiently. I also learnt that methods that is being
used in traditional approaches of management lays emphasis on motivating employees.
Managers are also engaged in providing training and learning to employees so that they can
grow. When I started the module I did not have idea related to what basically traditional
approach meant. Also I did not know about how it can motivation be one of the most appreciated
method to make employees stay in firm. I have learned that traditional approach to management
also lays emphasis on making people work on the quality of their services so that aim and
objective of organization can be achieved.
This workshop has also assisted me in learning about the contemporary approach to
management. In this I have gained knowledge about the various models that can be used by
companies in order to know about their internal capabilities and also about the factors that can
affect working of the company. I have learnt about the McKinsey’s model related to
contemporary approach of management. It has also helped me in analysing the various skills and
abilities that is been required by employees so that objectives can be achieved. I have also been
able to understand the importance of consumer satisfaction by having knowledge related to
contemporary approach to management. All these relevant literatures on this has assisted me in
enhancing my knowledge related to all hard and soft skills that can be used by employees.

Feedback to identify the improvement in work
I have analysed that I am really good at distributing the work and also managing the
people. I have also realised that I am good at making decisions. This has helped me in making
better decisions, this has assisted me in achieving goals and objectives. I have also analysed that
my understanding is good, I have been able to have deep understanding about the traditional and
modern approaches to management (Kara, 2018). This assisted me in laying positive impact in
front of people. This has also support me in growing and achieving goals and objectives. I have
analysed that I am also good at making better decision and solving the problems. These are the
features that I am really good at. It has assisted me in growing up my confidence level.
My tutor has also provided me with the feedback so that I can improve my mark and has
also assisted me in exceling in my career. I have analysed from my tutor feedback that I am
really poor at researching. I need to lay focus on improvising my research skills. As it is really
necessary for me so that I can be engaged in having deep knowledge related to all contemporary
and traditional approaches to management. My peer has also provided me with the information
that I really lack abilities related to effective communication. This I need to improve so that I
will be able to build up my business network (Jackson and Lockwood, 2018). This will help me
in strengthening my facts and figures related to managing people and individuals. I have also
analysed that my friends and tutor has provided me the feedback that I lack self-confidence when
I am speaking in front of public. So I need to lay emphasis on this in order to improvise my
grades.
Highlighting areas which needs improvement and ideas to improve them for personal
development
There are so many skills which needs to be improved for my professional as well as
academic development. In order to enhance my research skills, I can have engaged in taking
support from my tutors. This will assist me in improvising my research skills and also I would be
able to gain in-depth knowledge about the subject matter. This will assist me in growing. I have
also analysed that I need to improve my decision making. It will help me in making better
decision that will be really important for my career goals (Ogie and Pradhan, 2020).
I have also analysed that in order to be a good manager I must be engaged in having proper
hard and soft skills. This is important so that I can be able to improve quality of my work and lay
positive impression in front of my tutor. It will also help me in growing and achieving my

ultimate goals and objectives. I have also analysed that I need to work on my communication
skills for this I will be taking help from my peer. I will take coaching and mentoring so that I can
frame meaningful sentences and can also engaged in upgrading my grades. This will assist me in
achieving my long term as well as short term goals and objectives.
CONCLUSION
From the above study, it has been summarized that traditional concept of management has
laid emphasis on motivating employees. It has been analyzed that to manage employees it is
really important to have soft and hard skills. It has also been summarized that contemporary
approaches to management lays emphasis on quality of work delivered.
