Introduction
The study focuses on the three essential services for funding consideration to help the public
health care needs to help the current health situation. The duty of the local health care bodies is
to monitor and diagnose the various health issues faced by the people of the community. The
effectiveness of their activities is reflected upon the overall health condition of the entire
community. They are also responsible for developing and updating the healthcare polices of the
area according to the healthcare needs of the people.
Essential service 1: To inform, educate and empower people about health issues
The first step towards reducing any health hazard or treating a disease is accessibility to correct
knowledge. The local health bodies are responsible for this job and are responsible for spreading
valuable information about the various diseases to the local people through advertisements on
newspapers and televisions (Andrade et al., 2017). Developing various educational programs
such as HIV programs, Child- abuse program, and domestic violence programs and so on can
help in spreading awareness amongst the people. Without proper information, the people cannot
seek the authorities regarding their issues. Hoardings, internet presentations and weekly
campaigns can be utilized too.
Essential service 2: Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision
of health care when otherwise unavailable
The local health bodies and the government are responsible to provide adequate healthcare to all
its citizens. The people should be able to access various free programs and health services if they

are not able to afford it. In case of an endemic, the people should be allotted various schemes so
that they can access healthcare. The various programs which requires funding are the TB
program, free vaccination programs, detection and treatment of breast cancer, maternal
healthcare, child healthcare and so on (Gostin & Wiley, 2016).
Essential service 3: Monitor health status to identify and solve community health problems
One of the most important jobs of the local healthcare agencies is monitoring the health
conditions of the people, by determining the various health hazards of the community (Public
Health Functions Steering Committee, 2014). To serve this purpose the local healthcare body has
to monitor various other aspects of the community such as monitoring the water quality of the
area, oral health practices, sewage disposal, immunizations, and lead poisoning tests and so on
(Zhang et al., 2017). When these conditions of the community are under strict monitoring and
intervention, the people are automatically safe from many diseases such as diarrhea, dysentery,
HIV and so on.
Conclusion
The local health bodies have to provide several essential services to the members of the
community to ensure proper health care and health management. People should be informed
about the various diseases and they should also be informed about the facilities they can avail
from the various health agencies.
