Overview and Significance of the proposed study:
Artificial Intelligence is one of the broad concept with its involvement ranging from
different fields. With the application of Artificial Intelligence, it involves designing of intelligent
machines that are capable of acquiring knowledge for serving purpose of solving problems. Like
any other industry the application of Artificial Intelligence in the sports industry is one of the
rarest one that has increased its popularity within past five years (Riedl 2016). While making use
of artificial intelligence and machine learning vision, new ways of applications are discovered
within the sports industry with the use of Chabot to initiate computer vison on different
applications. This research is mainly carried out so as to determine the future scope of
developments and the implication of AI in the International Sports management while taking in
special consideration to the business perspective related to the Department of Sports in UAE.
Rationale of the proposed study:
The application of AI in the international sports industry includes involvement of both
Big Data as well as pattern recognition while initiating to provide the sport teams a competitive
advantage (Pannu 2015). Along with the application of AI, different algorithms can also be used
so as to analyze more data enabling sports team to develop a deep understanding of certain
factors that will help in determining the results on the ground. Nowadays, AI has a huge
application in the professional sports industry and hence researching on the topic of future

development of AI in International Sports Management is selected as the topic of research for
this study.
Aim and Objectives:
Aim of the study:
The study aims at understanding the future development as well as implications of the
Artificial Intelligence in the International Sports Management while taking special consideration
to the business perspective of the Department of Sports in UAE.
Objective of the study:
 To find out ways by which AI can influence the International Sports Industry
 To find out the future implication of AI in the Department of Sports in UAE.
Relevant Literature:
The use of technology has formed their major kind of impacts over every kind of sector.
From the perspective of the study under research, it can be discussed that the Dubai Sports
Council Board has confirmed over the rising importance of AI technology and other innovative
applications within the field of sports as per the policy of leadership (Isaac et al. 2017). On
further discussion with the Department of Sports in UAE, it has been confirmed that the sports
sector within the UAE should need to make use of the policy and thus utilize the motivating
environment supported by the Government. Technology has made a huge form of penetration in
various sectors of UAE and with the further help of 5th Generation techniques, it would help in
enabling the country to present themselves as a considerable role as the biggest international
center of sports.

During the study of research in the field of AI made by the Department of Sports in UAE,
it has been viewed that they have a considerable amount of scope in order to enhance the level of
achievements that have been made previously. The sports industry is considered as one of the
cultural staple of economic that has the capability to generate millions of dollars in terms of
revenue (Makridakis 2017). Although the use of AI in sports has risen from just a past few years,
but in the present times, the technology of machine vision and AI are making further growth into
various kind of applications.
From the business perspective of the Sports Department of UAE and from various news
reports, it can be understood that the UAE sports industry has a huge scope to generate a vast
number of revenue with their innovation strategies (Bazarian et al. 2014). The amount of revenue
that would be generated could be divided into four different kind of segments. These include:
1. Revenue from tickets at gate – The sale of tickets could be boosted if the different
sport events bring forward an option to sell their tickets from the sport events (Hinch and Ito
2018). They could sell the tickets in an advance phase much at least one week prior to the event.
2. Media Rights – AI technology could be used to broadcast media for the sport events
(Dinca et al. 2014). The technology could also be used to create interactive media applications
that could be used by people in order to rise the popularity of the sport events.
3. Revenue from Sponsorship – Fees could also be paid to engage a brand with a
specific team, facility, league or event. This would also include category rights (Pedersen and
Thibault 2017).
4. Merchandises – AI technology could also be powered to sell different licensed
products for the team.

The media who are in the process of covering every specific aspect in relation to a sports
event mainly enhance over the experience for the spectators. The developers who are in the
process of developing a wide range of solutions to enhance the experience for spectators (Sykora
et al. 2015). The vast number of present applications designed by AI could be categorized in four
major kind of categories. These include:
a) Chatbots – Different sport teams have been in the process of using virtual assistants
for the purpose of responding to inquiries made by fans over a huge range of subject topics
(Ernst, Merola and Samaan 2018). These bots also provide live updates about the information
and statistics about the live game. The information about logistics is also supported by these
smart chatbots.
b) Computer Vision – The researchers in the field of AI are in the process of training
neural networks based on deep learning for the purpose of achieving accuracy in the sport events.
This feature could be used to track the speed of cars in a sports event (Kyritsis, Deriaz and
Konstantas 2018). In the previous times, photographic images that would have reduced clarity.
This situation could thus be helped with the help of AI technology.
c) Automation in Journalism – The media outlets are in the process of leveraging
automation driven technology powered by AI for expanding the coverage of sport events and
thus increase the chances of revenue.
d) Wearable technology – It has been further been discussed that different sport events
in AI have added IoT devices within their framework for the purpose of attempting towards
performance and training. This would help in predicting the outcomes of the game and provide
better kind of real-time updates to the user during the sports events.

within the use of such kind of technology also leads to the fact that AI and machine learning
could help in the improvement of chatbots. This kind of concept could thus be applied for
improving the planning within sport events.
It can also be discussed that every kind of movement that would be made within the field
of sports would be considered as to be important. Thus, with the help of AI supported
technology, the individual movements could be detailed and tracked in order to understand the
most important critical factors within the gaming sector. Real-time insights that would be made
with the help of technology in the sports sector would also help to engage more number of fans.
Different sponsor companies engage the use of AI technologies and predictive analytics for
predicting the results from a particular game. Thus, this kind of technology can be defined as to
be extremely helpful for sponsors and various teams to increase the popularity of the particular
game. Advancements in the AI field would also help in delivering better kind of outputs for the
sports sector.
Research Design:
Research Design is often referred to as the suitable way of designing the research
methodology while framing out suitable framework in order to collect data through the process
and analysis the same using the specified research design. There are different types if research
design that can be used within a research that includes Conclusive Research Design as well as

Exploratory Research Design. For this particular research study, we have chosen the Conclusive
Research Design so as to conduct the entire research study.
Justification of selecting the Research Design:
We have selected the Conclusive Research Design in order to further conduct the study as
applying this type of research design will help in evaluating the process that can be used to
analyze the data while collecting it. The application of the conclusive way of research design
within the research study helps in imitating the application of the generalized assumptions while
using the quantitative data that is collected from different sport departments and their varied
entities.
Methodology:
The chapter of research methodology deals with all the details of the procedures and
methods that are being used while conducting the entire study. It also includes inclusion of
different research methods that helps in gathering the relevant information related to the
implication of AI in the field of sports while collecting data and analyzing the data through
specific suitable processes. The process of data analysis includes techniques of inspecting,
cleansing, transforming as well as modelling the data related to the aim of the research while
making use of supportive decision-making technique and helping to discover details and
suggesting suitable conclusions. There are two different types of data collection method that can
be used one is the Qualitative Data Collection Method and the other is the Quantitative Data
collection method (Brannen 2017). The qualitative data collection method includes range of
processes and techniques that researchers make use of while gathering data in the form of
suitable explanations and understanding the investigated scenario of the research study (Taylor,

Bogdan and DeVault 2015). The Quantitative method of data analysis is another systematic
approach of investigating the different strategies that can be taken so as to collect the numerical
based data allowing researchers to transform the numerical data into suitable form needed for the
research study.
Justification for the selected research methodology:
For this particular research study, various other processes of research and other
techniques based on the research requirements are applied for the research methodology in order
to analyze the scope of future development of AI and its implications in the International Sports
industry and how AI is applied to the business perspective of Department of Sports in UAE.
Based on the context of the research, the theory of Positivism will be applied a part of the
research methodology in order to obtain a wide knowledge while gathering relevant information
based on the topic of research (Sekaran and Bougie 2016). As a part of research approach, the
Deductive method of approach is applied so as to initiate a clear analysis of the study while
collecting data from the various Department of Sports and other sport entities of UAE. Apart
from that as a part of research approach and the methodology that will be used in the research
study, the quantitative method of research will be used so as to obtain data based on systematic
investigation of quantifiable data using different computational techniques (Hashemnezhad
2015). The quantitative mode of research method helps in gathering information related to the
application of AI in International Sports Industry of UAE. Here we have made use of the data
collected from the Department of Sports and other entities of sports.
Justification of the chosen research approach:

For the particular research, the Deductive method of research approach is conducted so as
to reveal the different paths of the research study and developing suitable hypothesis while
analyzing the objective of the study. The deductive approach of research design also helps in
ensuring the authenticity of the hypothesis based on the research study taking into consideration
of the different criterion for selection and rejection process. As no further new concepts on the
field of application of AI in Internal Sports Industry has been proposed in this study hence the
other two methods of research approach consisting of the adductive and inductive research
approach has been eliminated here.
Ethical Issues:
Some of the ethical issues in relation to the proposed study that could be considered are:
1. The data that would be collected for the proposed study should be selected from
reliable sources.
2. The collected data would be stored in dedicated data servers in which the data would
be stored in a secure format (Isaac et al. 2017).
3. The data that would be collected would be carefully assessed in order to avoid any
kind of mistakes. Review over the work would be done in proper phases such as to ensure that
each of the results have been sourced from credible sources.
Assumed Outcomes:
From the performing research over the proposed study, it could be assumed that the
outcomes after the completion of the research would lead to in-depth knowledge about the topic.
This study is focused over the impacts of AI in the Department of Sports in UAE. This study
would also highlight important facts and areas in which the technology has made advancement in

the recent years. Based on understanding from the concepts derived from the study, the neglected
areas that had not gained much amount of focus would be discovered and further research could
be made in such areas. This would help in understanding the areas that would need an extensive

With the conduction of research over the proposed study, certain implications that could
be made are:
1. The proposed study would help in understanding the present areas in which AI
development have been focused greatly.
2. Based on the research, the researchers would be helped with understanding the areas
that would need further improvement and thus it could be recommended accordingly.
3. The research would thus open new areas of understanding for the AI technologies that
has made tremendous growth in the UAE sports industry. It would also be able to define the
ways in which the variations in technology would incur maximum benefits for the industry.
