In Using Recycled Plastics in the Hardware Product of IBM:
The metrics tracked here includes the type of resin, treatment of recycled resin, and the
whole amount of the plastics that IBM procures for applying in hardware products. Through
the usage of the metrics, IBM was able to increase its goal of recycled plastic from 2 percent
in the year 1997 to 10 percent in the year 2001(ibm.com, 2018). The ability of meeting the 10
percent goal influenced hugely by decreasing the applications of the recycled plastics in the
products of the company that underwent major changes in the material use through the shift
from the plastic enclosure to the metal made enclosures.

In Avoiding the Use of Powder Coatings and Volatile Organic Compounds:
In this aspect, IBM’s metrics lay in using the powder coatings instead of the liquid paints
used for close to ninety percent of it’s the decorative products.
