Career development Theory
The Happenstance Learning theory is an attempt which seeks to explain the manner in
which the different individuals tend to follow various paths throughout their life and aims at
identifying the manner in which the counselors will be able to facilitate this procedure. The HLT
mentions that the human behavior is a result of the experiences which the human undertakes
from the planned and the unplanned scenarios (Krumboltz 2009). The study states that each
situation can be viewed as a set of opportunities and if the individuals can recognize them
effectively, decisions can be taken to capitalise it accordingly. Hence, by learning and
recognizing this theory, I came to the view that my experiences have been directing me to a cross
cultural interaction. With the increase in the globalisation and other related technology which
tends to advance business among cultures, my experience and close proximity to the different
cultured colleagues and friends in different schools, I have developed an interest in Cross culture
competency.
Future work skill
After analysing the Future Work 2020, the competency skill which is appropriate for my
career in the long run as a business manager can be referred to as the Cross cultural competency
skill (Davies, Fidler and Gorbis 2011). As the businesses have advanced to a great extent, the
communication and interaction with the different employees will be crucial and in consideration
with this, the Cross cultural competency will be suitable for me as it will make me capable for
interaction with the different cultured employees who are present and working under me (Fidler
2016). In consideration of this, it will make me capable enough to understand the emotions of the

Situation (S): I was always surrounded by multi cultured friends and this has given me acute
experience of dealing with different cultured people. In consideration of this, I am able to
understand their overall emotions easily and additionally am able to evaluate the manner in
which I will be able to lead a team with different cultured individuals.
Task (T): During a college presentation, I was made a leader of a team of students who belonged
to different cultures and I was able to carry out the objective of the goals successfully. In
consideration of this, I was successfully able to help my team in becoming the best team in that
class.
Action (A): I managed to understand the presentation shortcomings which were being faced by
the different members of the team and I was able to assist them in building their confidence
while presenting the work in front of the class. This helped us to perform well.
Result (R): We were graded `A` for the assessment and in consideration of this, we were also
able to get acclamation from the college administration for our efforts.
Methods and Learning
This Unit was very helpful in making us understand the manner in which we wanted our
careers to progress in the long run. Through this unit, we were able to gain an idea about the way
in which the experiences influence future career aspects and were able to identify the various
different cultured individuals, and along with this, I will be able to interact with them in a better
manner.
